Coming from an Asian immigrant family, raised in America’s masculine culture, emotions and feelings are the last thing we would talk about. But in that suppression we also push away the people around us. It’s why we end up in either stagnant relationships, or feeling lonely that no one can relate to us because we’ve been used to dealing with it on our own.The first step to curbing this loneliness and connecting with others on a deeper level is to connect back to your own emotions. It’s to become aware of those sensations and situations that make us uncomfortable and to purposefully lean into it.
