Also: learn about the first place I ever went to a Pride Night! Spoiler alert: I had to leave the country to do so... We're gonna have baseball in 2020*! *raging nationwide pandemic permitting Because a 60 game season is going to be almost completely unprecedented, I'm joined by former Cooperstown mayor Jeff Katz to talk about what we might expect this year. • 3 Strikes, You're Out #31: The Summer of Sammy with Away Games Podcast

    19/06/2020 Duración: 01h02min

Are you like me? When you watched ESPN's Long Gone Summer doc, did you think, "Hey, wasn't Sammy Sosa supposed to be in this?" 66 homers ain't what it used to be, apparently. So on today's episode, I'm joined by longtime friends of the pod Kevin McCaffrey and Adam Mamawala (Away Games Podcast) to look back on the thrilling, regrettable, wonderful, and downright odd ride Sammy took all of us on during the summer of 1998. It's what made Adam a baseball fan, gave Kevin a firsthand look at a milestone, and enabled me to give a Cub superstar a curtain call in Pittsburgh. The three of us have strikingly different views on Sammy's season now but at the time, he definitely made it cool to be a baseball fan again. Remember when that was a thing? Also: Rob Manfred sucks. Baseball owners suck. Abolish capitalism. You know the deal.
