As we continue our advent journey, we delve deeper into this strange reality that is a God who would choose to become poor so that we might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). Pastor Matt K. teaches us about all of the "valueless" people that are esteemed in and around the birth narrative of Jesus.

Pastor Jeremy launches us into our advent theme, 'The God Who is Poor', from Mark 10:17-23 in which a sincere and wealthy man comes to Jesus, but doesn't necessarily get what he is looking for...

This week, Pastor Jeremy will be continuing our study of the Gospel of Mark, highlighting a both fascinating and counter-cultural statement that Jesus makes about children and how they set the bar for everyone in their engagement in the Kingdom of God.

Pastor Nathan will be continuing on with the second part of his teaching on a biblical perspective on divorce - a topic that is close to home for nearly all of us in one way or another. Building on the scriptural/theological foundation that he outlined in his November 3 message *, Pastor Nathan will be addressing some peripheral issues related to the topic of divorce - including remarriage.

As we continue on in Mark’s Gospel, we intersect a topic that is very close to home - that of divorce. Pastor Nathan will be teaching on this passage in two parts, with this week focusing on the scriptural black-and-white lines that are drawn around this topic. Divorce is an issue that is quite close to home for many and can be a painful discussion for some, but it is imperative that we hold up the kingdom perspective on such things and seek to align ourselves with it.

Pastor Jeremy unpacks a series of scenes in the life of Jesus in which His conversations with His disciples turn to matters that are not always easy to understand or accept. Might it be true that Jesus is calling His apprentices to a life of hardship - even suffering? What is revealed to us about the Kingdom of God through these things?

As we continue in the book of Mark (9:14-29), Pastor Matt Garvin will be teaching through a fascinating series of scenes involving quibbling disciples, a desperate father and a back-room conversation - all of which lead us to some fascinating discoveries about the true nature of faith.

Seen For Who He Really Is After a few months off, we are stepping back into the book of Mark and resuming our journey of watching the Kingdom in Action. This Sunday, Pastor Jeremy will be unpacking one of the most shocking and spectacular moments in the life of Christ - Jesus' transfiguration. What is this incredible revelation meant to underline for the disciples?

Pastors Jeremy and Lisa will be teaching our final two mini-modules on living as an apprentice of Jesus - all about living by a rule of life and the critical need for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Matt G and Pastor Jeremy teach us as we look more deeply into what it means to be engage with those around us who are spiritually disoriented and presence Jesus in the places where we live, work and play.

Join us as we continue our September series all about the invaluable fundamentals of living as an apprentice of Jesus. This Sunday, Pastor Matt K will be speaking on taking time in the scriptures, and Pastor Jeremy will be speaking on the whole idea of 'spiritual parenthood' and the crucial role that investing in others must play in the life of a mature Jesus-follower.

The term "apprenticeship" has really become entrenched in the culture of our church family as we talk about what it means to truly live as a follower of Jesus. We use it interchangeably with the concept of discipleship (a word riddled throughout the New Testament), because it contextualizes the heart of what being a disciple is - one who is apprenticing under a master - learning, by practical experience, a trade, art or calling. We want to take these coming 4 weeks to invite you into the classroom. To teach you the "trade" so to speak - the greatest skill you could ever learn. That of living abundantly through making Jesus Lord over every aspect of your life. This week, Pastor Nathan and Pastor Jeremy will both be teaching a short, practical module - one on true spiritual community and the other on a lifestyle built around prayer.

A miracle that, strangely, takes two go-arounds to accomplish. What looks strangely like a sign of Jesus' frailty is, in fact, a parable about the universal state of spiritual blindness that everyone suffers from. What might the scriptures say to us as we seek to see things clearly?
