Most of us who have been in the church for a while (if not all) had someone who say something like, "Come follow me," and taught is how to serve in practical ways. You didn't know it then, but that invite helped you to grow spiritually, and to connect in deeper with God. Why does spiritual growth work like that? Following Jesus Being Changed by Jesus On Mission with Jesus Implication: Serving God helps us to connect deeper within the body of Christ, and do our part to help it grow. Your Action Items: Start by serving somewhere within the church. You will learn new things and start to find your place. Wherever you are serving, look to train your replacement.

Sometimes it's hard to know how to share our faith. It is hard to find the words that will help. Do I know enough to start the conversation? Will I have the answers if they ask questions? Your Action Items: Write down five of your stories this week where God showed up in your life (Situation, God Shows Up, Result). Have a discipleship conversation where you practice telling one of your stories. Share one of your stories with someone who suspect could benefit from hearing it.

Sermon Notes: Sabbath is a weekly 24-hour period we choose to set apart to cease from our regular routine so we can intentionally engage with God, ourselves, and those important to us. Psalm 46:10A 1 Kings 19:1-14 Genesis 3:8-9 Implications: Contemplation during Sabbath deepens our relationships with God, ourselves, and those close to us. Often we avoid quiet contemplation because we are afraid of what we will find hiding in our own heart. When we choose contemplation though, we can experience God’s grace and we find His ways to move forward. Your Next Steps: Have a discipleship conversation: what seems to be getting in the way of you hearing the still small voice of God? Experiment with adding one way of contemplation to your next Sabbath.
