  • 158. Blue Beetle, The Pope's Exorcist, and Foundation Or Are Kevin And Andrew Swifties?!?

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h29min

The guys are back this week to talk about The Pope's Exorcist, Blue Beet'e, Foundation, and (sadly) Geostorm. Stay til the end, too, as Andrew gets a little deep on what vibe is defining the modern generation and then a discussion on... Taylor Swift?!? Kevin starts off talking about The Pope's Exorcist which is currently available on Netflix. If horror is your jam and you like the "based on a true story" genre, definitely give it a watch. Next up, Andrew talks about Blue Beetle which just landed in theaters this week. Sadly, it's doing poorly at the box office but it SHOULD be doing great! If you need something to do this weekend, go see it! Kevin takes over at the end to talk about the Apple TV sci-fi epic, Foundation. After talking to Kim, he realized that this show has many parallels to Game of Thrones so if that was your jam, give it a shot. Kevin then closes the show by talking about the disaster of a disaster film, Geostorm. Yeah, it's really not good. Like... at all... And of course there isn one last

  • 157. Twisted Metal, Heart of Stone, and Poisoned Or Is Andrew Plotting Something...?

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h38min

This week Andrew and Kevin jump into the new Twisted Metal series on Peacock, Heart of Stone on Netflix, and 2 documentaries on Netflix, Poisoned and How to Become a Tyrant. Kevin meant to talk Twisted Metal last week but completely forgot so he makes up for it this week by getting into it. It came as a pretty rave review, so enjoy that. Next up Andrew discusses the new food documentary on Netflix, Poisoned. Despite his new affinity for become a cult leader or tyrant, this isn't a way for him to take over the world. Or is it...? But it does lead to a good discussion about food safety in general. And if there's one thing our guys are big on, it's safety!! Next up Kevin talks about the new Gal Gadot joint over on Netflix, Heart of Stone. It's a very Mission Impossible-esque tale, but lacking some of the overall energy that MI has. But if you like pretty things... Gal and Jamie Dornan are exactly that. Andrew finishes off with another video that may be starting to show us his final form. How to Become a Dictator

  • 156. Oppenheimer, How to Become A Cult Leader (Redux) or All Pop And SOME Culture?

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h31min

This week the group talks Oppenheimer. How to Become A Cult Leader, Super Mario Bros., and the Fast and Furious franchise. But wait!!! Yes, that is a new face you spy! Andrew brings his friend Salony on for this episode and, much like Jen(ny) and Kim, she brings some actual culture to this ragtag bunch. We kick off the episode with a get to know you session. Salony is, as they all are, a former classmate of everyone else but Kevin (what a bum, right?). It doesn't take long to see that Salony is a deep thinker and is into some really interesting stuff! Once the guys finally learn everything there is to learn about Salony, she and Andrew discuss Oppenheimer. They both liked the movie enough, but there is a slightly different take from each one, which is great for this show!  Next up, Kevin and Andrew take a deeper run at How to Become a Cult Leader, since they actually completed the show this week. They both found it very interesting and entertaining. Salony, while not having seen it, has some interesting insig

  • 155. They Cloned Tyrone, How to Become a Cult Leader, & Secret Invasion

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h23min

This weeks episode kickas off with They Cloned Tyrone, followed by How to Become a Cult Leader, and ends with the Secret Invasion Finale. Watch in real time as Kevin slowly convinces Andrew that They Cloned Tyrone is better than he thought it was. Is it hypnosis or does he maybe have the skills to Become a Cult Leader? (See what I did there?) Andrew runs through the general premise of the show and why it's more fascinating (and fun) than it should be. Next up Kevin talks quickly about the latest couple of episodes of Star Trek Strange New Worlds and and Andrew delivers a heartfelt apology to all the SNW fans out there.  The guys then discuss the much maligned finale of Secret Invasion and the series overall. This inevitably leads to a discussion about the future of the MCU and then, of course, to the future of the DCU. They are so predictable!! As always, thank you for watching. • 154. Barbie And Strange New Worlds Or Pete Loves The Golden Bachelor

    08/09/2023 Duración: 02h09min

This week is a full house and the gang covers the new Barbie movie and Start Trek Strange New Worlds. Is that all? Absolutley not!! What else did they cover? A whole lot! Of course they start off with a discussion of The Bear because how could they not? Pete talks Minx, Heels, and The After Party really quick before Jen(ny) and Andrew (what?!?) talk Barbie. Its a surprisingly good review from both.  After Pete is done defending the 2015 Jem and the Holograms movie, he talks about Daisy Jones and the Six. Jen(ny) then talks on Elemental very briefly. Short story long, she enjoyed it and you should watch it at some point! Next up, Jen(ny) took the opportunity to see the film, The Sound of Freedom and, politics aside, she enjoyed the film. That does lead to a distinctly un-APNC chat about religion before the gang settles back into their normal lack of decorum and talks about Kevin Smith's Dogma. This finally leads the gang to a larger Trek discussion, though the intention was to focus on Strange New Worlds. Who

  • 153. Secret Invasion, Evil Dead, and The Bear Or Is Battleship A Good Movie? Hint: No...

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h24min

This is a busy one! There's Secret Invasion, Evil Dead, The Bear, The Brit Marling-Verse, and even the 2012 film, Battleship. First, though, the guys talk Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Andrew has been away and Kevin had no one to actually discuss this this fantastic film with so Andrew allows him a bit of an outlet. After that, it's a wild roller coaster ride of interesting television and movies and some really bad stuff, before a quick taste of what's to come when the team can actually deep dive into The Bear! As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! • 152. SpiderMan, Indy 5, The Flash, and Superman & Lois Casting, Or Kevin DOES Have Friends

    08/09/2023 Duración: 01h27min

This week it's the new Indy 5 Movie, The Flash, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. There's also a little talk about the DCU's new Superman and Lois and a quick touch on the Transformers franchise. Kevin is FINALLY not alone again so het gets to talk Spidey with Andrew for the first time before jumping into Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. And since Kevin has principles and Andrew, clearly, does not, they finally get a chance to talk about The Flash. As always, thank you for watching. • 151. 65, Operation Fortune, and The Fablemans Or The Airline Video Kitchen Sink

    08/09/2023 Duración: 36min

Welcome back! This week Kevin reviews 65, Operation Fortune, The Fablemans, Searching, and Missing. Why does he have so many movies to review you ask? Well, it was a travel week and so, when you spend 16 hours on planes, you have time to watch a few movies! So sit back, lean your seats back and lower your tray tables and enjoy what is probably a very bumpy ride! As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. • 150. Transformers, Based On A True Story, & The Crowded Room, Or The OG's Are Back!

    25/08/2023 Duración: 02h01min

We've got Transformers Rise of the Beasts, The Crowded Room, and Based on a True Story on tap this week. We'll also have a more in depth discussion of Ted Lasso and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Pete also talks about ESPN's 30 for 30 which is now streaming on Disney+. This one is just a lot of fun and marks the first time it's been just Pete and Kevin in a long time and it comes, coincidentally, at that 150 episode milestone. And much like Kevin's birth, this was definitely not planned... As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! • 149. Spider-Man, Ted Lasso, & Mrs. Maisel Or 2nd Time's The Charm!

    25/08/2023 Duración: 33min

Between the penultimate Spider-Man Spider-Verse film and the finales of Ted Lasso and Mrs. Maisel, There's a good amount of info to cover this week. Lucky you, there is no one to interrupt Kevin (besides himself) and he gets through his reviews in record time! Well, it seems like record time, but it took him twice as long. Why? Watch and find out! But overall, Kevin loved all 3 of the things he watched this week, so we hope you enjoy the episode! As always, thank you for watching. • 148. The Little Mermaid, FUBAR, Shazam & Vanderpump Or Did Kevin Get Carpal Tunnel Editing?

    25/08/2023 Duración: 01h47min

The Little Mermaid, FUBAR, Shazam, and even The Vanderpump Rules (much to Kevin's chagrin...) are up for grabs with a packed house this week. With a larger than usual cast of characters on the episode, the content gets... eclectic. On top of that we have a special addition this week, Jen's daughter Sydney. She joined to be a second voice to review The Little Mermaid, but she turned out to be an even better expert on Five Nights at Freddy's! The episode of course kicks off with The Little Mermaid before devolving into a tangent on movies releasing this coming month before returning to the next scheduled topic, FUBAR. Some comparisons are made to Citadel, but there is a lot of love for Arnold's first series.  The conversation then shifts to the much maligned Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Knowing this bunch, you can guess it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. This leads them to another conversation around the much better film, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.  Finally, Pete sees his opening and jumps into a conversa

  • 147. Air, Fatal Attraction, and Midnight Suns Or Did Kevin Give Ben Affleck Props?!?

    25/08/2023 Duración: 01h17min

This week Kevin and Andrew jump straight into Air before moving on to Fatal Attraction and Midnight Suns. It's a super brisk episode and the focus is definitely on Air and Fatal Attraction, primarily the episode Medial Woman. Kevin throws in a rare video game review, however brief, of Midnight Suns on the PS5. Also, don't forget to stay til the end. Andrew talks about Kevins topic last week, the WGA strike, and some of the impacts AI will have on the industry if we don't find a way to regulate it!  As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. • 146. Class Of 09, the WGA Strike, And The Deep House Or Does Kevin Even Have Friends?

    24/08/2023 Duración: 49min

Kevin covers the WGA Strike The Class of 09, The Deep House, and the 3rd season of Superman & Lois. Season 3 of Superman and Lois is more of the same, quality-wise, but that isn't a bad thing! There's some new drama for the Kent family as Lois is stricken with cancer and there's a newly recasted Jonathan Kent, but the show is still as solid as ever. The Deep House is a horror flick now playing on Amazon Prime that has a new spin on the haunted house genre. As the title suggests, this house is deep... underwater! So this is a lot of POV horror and a very claustrophobic feel. The Class of 09 is a new series over on FX/Hulu that follows the aforementioned class of FBI recruits through 3 different stages - their rookie year of 09, our present year of 2023, and the future in 2034, where AI is taking over the bulk of the police work. Kevin finishes off the episode talking about the current WGA writers strike. He starts off talking about how the 2007 strike effected the industry at that time and then dives into

  • 145. Guardians 3, Fatal Attraction, Scream, And Dune Or Chicago Is Full Of Cool People

    24/08/2023 Duración: 02h14min

Welcome to another episode! This week we bring in another friend of Andrew's from his Chicago days, Sara. She is a huge fan of Dune and we felt like it was a great time to bring her on since that trailer just dropped! She's also super cool because she moonlit as a boxer for a while. Like a real life, punch throwing boxer! And then, of course, she lights Andrew's fire by talking Attack on Titan. Because she is a normal human being who needs actual sleep, the guys let her go around the halfway point. Rather than waiting to discuss the main topic, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Andrew rips off the wrapping paper and the guys get into it right away, while managing to stay relative spoiler free! After GotG, Kevin barrels through a few things he's watched. Bupkis on Peacock is great. Citadel on Prime is not so great. Ghosted on Apple TV+ is not as bad as people have said. And Silo on Apple TV+ looks very promising. He also marathoned the entire Scream franchise last week so that gets discussed as well. Then the

  • 144. Love & Death, Mrs. Davis, And The Diplomat Or How Many Ums Can Kevin Um

    24/08/2023 Duración: 43min

Welcome back! It's another solo episode for Kevin and this is solely everyone else's fault. What are they thinking having lives and families?!? This is a short one so Kevin keeps it nice and concise. He starts with a quick recap of The Last Thing He Told Me before jumping into the new Peacock show, Mrs. Davis, which he thoroughly enjoyed. After a very small tangent into the new DCU he redirects over to The Diplomat on Netflix. Kevin then finishes the show with the very promising Love & Death on HBO. As always, thanks for watching! Next week should be beefy with some Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and a whole lot more. If you haven't yet, don't forget to like and subscribe and share us on socials! Have a great week!

  • 143. Picard, The Last Thing He Told Me, And More Beef Or Andrew Watched Naughty Cartoons

    22/08/2023 Duración: 02h03min

Welcome to another fun episode of All Pop No Culture! Our biggest topic of the week is, of course, Star Trek Picard (Paramount+,) both the season/series finale and the third season as a whole. While Jen is on this week, that topic will be the sole property of Kevin and Andrew. But don't fret! Jen will get a lot of time this week. Kevin kicks off the show by talking about the new Peacock release, Mrs Davis, starring Betty Gilpin of Nurse Jackie and GLOW fame. It's a quick review as the show has just launched, but it sounds like a fun one. The gang then jumps into Cocaine Bear (Peacock) and YellowJackets before Jen takes the reins with talk of Mafia Mama starring Toni Collette. After that, Andrew takes over with a quick trip in the wayback machine to talk about The New Mutants and The Legend of Vox Machine. Next up, the group closes out their previous discussion on Beef (Netflix) and their final thoughts on how that show ended up and what should come next, if anything. Kevin and Jen then take the lead with a di

  • 142. MCU, DCU-ish, And Canadian PSA's Or Episode 141 Part Deux

    22/08/2023 Duración: 01h02min

Welcome to another episode of All Pop, No Culture! This episode is shorter than usual because it's not our usual episode! In fact, it's just bonus material from last episode! That's right, we intended to end last episode right where we did, but then ended up talking for way too long! This turned out to be kismet because Kevin came down with COVID right before the usual recording night so the gang took the night off and we decided to use this content instead! The episode kicks off with some reminiscing about childhood and then becomes a history lesson in growing up in Canada. We eventually get on topic and talk about the best (and worst) films of the MCU. Kevin and Leah have surprisingly similar lists at both the top and the bottom. The gang then moves on to some classic DC films before landing on the fate Ezra Miller and his Flash film...  As always, thanks for watching. Despite being a bit of stolen material, this one was a lot of fun and we hope you enjoy it. As always, don't forget to like and subscribe an

  • 141. Beef, Rabbit Hole, and The Night Agent Or Leah Is Not Excited About Pooh

    22/08/2023 Duración: 01h58min

This week, the guys bring on Leah, who has been one if our biggest supporters and has known Andrew since middle school. What's absolutely bonkers is that they haven't seen each other in decades! That doesnt stop the show from flowing, though. We kick off the show by talking about Superstore and TV comedies as we get to know Leah and find out what her tastes in entertainment lean toward. Hint: it's comedy. After that, the gang gets into discussing Beef on Netflix, the new series starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. There is a surprising range on opinions here, so look forward to that. After that Kevin takes the reins for a bit and talks about the new slasher flick, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Was it good? What do you think...? He then goes on to review a couple of new shows, The Night Agent and Rabbit Hole. Both have a 24-esque feel, but one is better than the other, for sure. As always, we hope you enjoy the show. Give Leah lot's of love this week for making it on to her fist ever podcast! Don't forget to

  • 140. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves or Nerds Play Nerd Games

    22/08/2023 Duración: 02h26min

Welcome to another first for the APNC crew. First off, there's 5 of us for the first time in a long time! Second, this is the first ever D&D game played on the show. First, though, the gang sits down and talks about the new film, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves! Much like the overall critical reviews, the group really enjoyed the film and it's a marked improvement over the last D&D film debacle. After the review, the game gets rolling. This is a first or second game for the majority of the group, so do not expect Critical Role here. That said, this is a great way to see how the game is played and some of the trials and tribulations that newcomers would experience. Will our team be victorious on our little quest or will we fail? It's up to the dice!! As always, thank you for watching. This one was a new and different kind of fun so we hope you enjoy watching us learn and fumble. As always, don't forget to like and subscribe and share, share, share!! Enjoy the show and we'll see you next wee

  • 139. Freddy, Jason, Michael, AirBnB's, and Sex Ghosts Or Kevin Is Lonley And Scared

    15/04/2023 Duración: 01h22min

As is so often the case, Kevin has no friends. But, like, ZERO. So you get him in his diminished state rambling on about '80s horror. But this is moments for him, so just play along. Horror is a hot topic on this show and someone of Kevin's age has no excuse for these holes in his watch history. He buckled down this week and watches the first 2 films in all 3 major horror franchises of the '80s, Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street. He'll break down each of the 6 films and let you know which of the series is his favorite, now that he has actually earned an opinion on the matter! Next up he gets modern with a more recent slasher-adjacent flick, The Rental. This is the directorial debut of Dave Franco and is a solid flick. Kevin then quickly reviews The Knock at the Cabin, which has been reviewed by Jen and Andrew already so not much time is spent there. He finally finishes off with It Follows, an artsy, moody horror flick the has sex ghosts. Awesome!! As always, thank you for watching. The s
