We have an awesome episode for you this week. Before jumping into the meat of the show, Andrew breaks down not only Creed 3, but the entire franchise and its ties to Rocky as well. Once he finishes that review, he gives a much shorter and very different review of Shazam 3. After that, we get to the main course, and that is The Last of Us, Season 1. but it's not enough for just Kevin and Andrew to talk about it, they need an expert. There is no one Kevin respects more on the subject than former APNC co-host Alex, so Kevin picked up the Bat Phone and rang him up!! This is a great reunion and Andrew's first chance to sit down and talk with Alex. It's a great meeting for the two of them and a great opportunity for our audience to get the perspective of someone who has never played the game (Andrew) and a couple of people who have played it many times. This week has Kim, Andrew, and Kevin back in the saddle. The show kicks off with some idle chit chat, discussing video games and their potential television adaptations following the success of The Last of Us. Next up the gang digs into some sci-fi chat and Kevin and Andrew preach the gospel of Battlestar Galactica to Kim. This leads to a deeper dive into slow burn shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The Kevin switches gears and talks about the new sitcom Animal Control on Fox. Andrew then gives his semi-spoilery review of Scream VI. He gives it a fairly glowing review but it's so scary that Kim has to leave. This week we have Jen AND Kim on, marking the largest number of females... wait... girls... wait... WOMEN (that joke will land way harder if you watch all the way to the end of the episode...) than we've ever had on the show at one time. Welcome to another episode! This week we have a special guest, Andrew’s friend Chad from his time in Chicago. Chad is a born fide pop culture expert with a great knowledge of comic book, horror, and film lore. The episode goes through getting to know Chad before Kevin derails that with talk about Phase 4 of the MCU. It’s a very good conversation with Andrew playing the opposing voice in the conversation. It’s spirited but not confrontational, so very eye opening! Next up, the guys dig into Chad’s horror roots. This leads to a great discussion about the genre in film in general. It gives Kevin and Andrew a quick chance to talk about their Conjuring franchise watch and leads nicely into the weekly The Last of Us discussion. Welcome to another episode!! It's just Kevin and Andrew this week but that doesn't mean there isn't anything to cover! The episode kicks off with Kevin going over a couple of Paramount Plus offerings. First up is the latest Tyler Sheridan project, Tulsa King. It's a Stallone led project but it's off to a great start. Next up no the streamer is Picard season 3. It's only the first episode so Kevin tries to stay as spoiler free as possible, but does talk about the things that make this a very solid first episode. Finally he skips over to HBO and quickly talks about how Velma may not be THAT bad. Next up, the guys get into their Conjuring universe watch. First up is The Curse of La Llarona and suffice it to say, the guys pretty much agree with the world consensus: this movie is not very good. They follow that up with Annabelle Comes Home. This might be consecutive weeks with Pete, but more importantly, Andrew is back. He was absent last week for SOME reason (who's a sleepy boy), but he's back now, as you will see right out of the gate. This week kicks off quickly, after Andrew plugs some future shows, with his defense of Velma. Admittedly Kevin has not watched much of it, but the debate over what makes this show any kind of good is solid banter. Kevin Takes over in an attempt to be quick. He talks about the new release of the Dead Space remake. Short story short there, it's badass and everyone should play it. In what should have been an even shorter story, Kevin also brings up the new game, Hogwart's Legacy. This turns into a philosophical tangent that is definitely worth listening to. We're back with another configuration of APNC members! This week starts off with Pete, Jen and Kevin and then Andy shows up about 30 minutes in. We are nothing if not diverse! So, Pete's back and you know what that means! It is entirely possible that Pete watched everything and, lucky for you, he remembered all of it, too!! I don't even know how to list it all, but there's a good amount to digest here. And, just to make things as clear as mud, his background has nothing to do with the episode this week. Like, at all... When we finally get Pete wound down (with the help of the mute button...) Jen gets to speak on her week. Her big watch is Antlers, but she also talks M3gan and You. Well, another week without Andy and Pete. It's like they just don't love us... BUT, without them here, we dont have to worry about those pesky restraining orders and we can invite Andrew's friend Jen on! They are old high school classmates so she fits right in! It's her first time on the show so we start gently. And by we, I mean Kevin. And by gently, I mean completely hogs the limelight. He starts off by discussing the Canadian film, The Swearing Jar. It's a romantic dramedy that isn't necessarily in his wheelhouse, but he won't shut up about it, so I guess he liked it? Next up, to continue to ease in the newbie (or to again monopolize the conversation like selfish windbag he is...) Kevin talks about The Bear on FX/Hulu. As it turns out, Jen has watched even more than he has, so she has a lot to bring to the conversation. Welcome back!! This episode kicks off like so many do, with just Andrew and Kevin. Andrew jumps right in and tells us about his current rewatch of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which he is currently enjoying on Netflix. Next up, Kevin goes over what he watched, which is basically what he watched last week, but he knows you didn't watch that episode because you only love Andrew, so here it is again... He quickly goes over Hacks season 2 and The Callisto Protocol. One new thing from him (unless you also ignored him on his birthday and are new to this thread) is a 90's SUPER B movie called Tammy and the T-Rex. Well, we're back-ish... Only two weeks into the year and people are already taking time for themselves. Selfish bastards... But that's OK, Kevin threw down another quick solo episode just to give you something to chew on for the week. The big takeaways this week are his quick coverage of The Recruit on Netflix, which he generally enjoys. He also talks a bit about the second season of The Flight Attendant, which he is enjoying much more than the first season. In what can only be called a rushed breakdown, he runs through the Golden Globe winners and offers a few opinions, though generally speaking, they may gave gotten it right this year... It’s almost a full house to kick off the new year! Pete is back with Kevin and Andrew, though he does show up a bit late. That’s ok because Kevin and Andrew dive right into the beautiful waters of the Sicilian coast and discuss White Lotus. Kevin didn’t love the first season and Andrew bunged both seasons back to back, so see how their opinions compare! Next up they talk about the menu. In a rare event, Kevin actually believes he sees the deeper meaning in the film rather than taking it at face value. Our little man is growing up! It's a Christmas miracle! Pete's back!! Of course that means that he wants to talk about Black Adam. But since that's been beaten to death, we move it to the end of the show for you. That said, the show does kick off with a rare moment of reality. The guys take a moment to discuss the loss of Stephen tWitch Boss this week. It's a heavy topic for the show, but they guys handle it with the care it deserves, for once. After the heavy bits, the guys unload on the DCEU as it stood with the Snyderverse. Then it's all about what is coming next under Gunn. After that, they switch gears to Christmas with the new holiday film, Spirited with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Greetings all! Despite Kevin begging and pleading for someone to be his friend this week, he was left all alone. To be fair, Andrew is traveling, Pete is a dad who somehow thinks family is more important than the show (selfish dick...) and Andy is out being Andy. Without any members of his man-harem, Kevin decided to go it alone, rather than give any of the listeners a reprieve. Kevin starts off by saying he can fly through what he's watched, which is immediately proven to be a lie. Since Andrew has also watched Nope, that turns into a hearty discussion. Kevin then explains the plot of the very interesting Inside Man over on Netflix. Next up, Kevin catches us up on the Hindi film, Brahmastra, on Hulu. This leads to a solid discussion on what impacts culture can have on how you perceive a film. It's certainly a different kind of film than American audiences might be used to! Next up Andrew finally gets a word in edgewise again and discusses the Tales of the Jedi on Disney Plus. It's a series of shorts focused mainly on Ahsoka Tano, but also gives us some backstory on a few other characters and is overall an excellent show! Welcome back! It's just Kevin and Andrew this week. In a week where they seemingly had little content to cover, the guys managed to make a solid episode out of it. They start off with the recently released horror film X, now streaming on Paramount Plus. This will be spoiler laden, of course, but both guys enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as Barbarian, but still enjoyed it. This leads to a lot of horror talk, which has been a running theme lately! Andrew covers the A24 film, Lamb, which proceeds to lambaste. This week, Kevin and Andrew are joined, once again, by Andy. Pete is still out because adulting is stupid but he swears he's not dead and will be back soon. If you came here to see Pete, we apologize on multiple levels... The show starts off with Kevin discussing Warrior Nun on Netflix. It is arguably one of the shortest reviews in the history of APNC, but hey, it's something. When that ends, Andy's undeniable lust for Andor is thrown into the forefront and the guys go over that show quickly. It's a bit of a debate over whether it's the best show on television right now, but it adds a little spice. After what is probably the largest appetizer in the history of meals, the guys finally tackle the main course: Black Panther Wakanda Forever. It's just Kevin and Andrew again this week and they are prepared to jump right into a new Universe, the DC Universe, as run by one Mr. James Gunn and friends. The opinion on the takeover is tentative but there's potential there and the guys discuss their hopes and fears candidly. Kevin also cover the new Blockbuster show on Netflix and, well, it's not a blockbuster so far... He then jumps on to the horror anthology, Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, which he gives far better marks to. Andrew covers some great Attack on Titan content and also gives a quick review of the streaming platform. One review is great and one is bad. In yet another APNC first, its and AKA episode. Unless you ask Kevin. Then it's just a KAA episode. But that sounds less cool, so we'll stick with AKA. Which, for those not in the know, is Andrew, Kevin, and Andy. This episode had an incredibly long pre-show, so we took the Andor piece from that and gracefully edited it into the later part of the show. Is it a smooth transition? Who knows. No one is getting paid for this! The show as you will see it begins with another horror film, Hereditary. The guys watched this as a way to counter the last "scariest film ever" with a different "scariest film ever." The guys all generally agree that this film was much deeper than Sinister ad and excellent horror film over all. But of course it was because A24... Next up there's an AA meeting (see what I did with the initials there) about Black Adam. Kevin hasn't watched and won't see it until it streams, but the AA's duke it out over the quality film. It's just Kevin and Andrew again after a week off. We hating taking time off, but they had a good reason this time. These two met in person for the first time last week at New York City Comic Con and you can bet your sweet butts they talk a lot about it! At the con, the guys saw Smallville, Star Trek, and Back to the Future panels and it was glorious! Andrew has some great stories from pre-con. There's a lot of Trek talk and Kevin revels in this being Andrews first time seeing them live. Finally, the discussion over Back to the Future is great. It really was a hell of a con! Back to current streaming events, the guys go on a horror binge and discuss Sinister (the scariest movie ever?), the new Hellraiser on Hulu, and The Midnight Club over on Netflix.
