The Fingers travel with Kvothe to Tarbean to get some new lute strings, and you faithful listeners are coming with us.  Kvothe's mind is a terrifying place these days, and he is coping via copious lute playing, becoming a master that can compose new works and play through broken strings.  But when his third string breaks he finds himself on the move to a place where he can get replacements, for the idea of existing with lute playing is ludicrous.  But the city he finds, Tarbean, is unwelcoming and hard.
