THYSSENKRUPP ELEVATOR PROJECT WINS AWARD IN DENVER A project involving the addition of a 1,125-ft2 thyssenkrupp elevator to the Franklin Medical Office Building in Denver was recently honored with the Merit Small Project award by ENR Mountain States for projects under US$10 million, ENR Mountain States reports. Part of Kaiser Permanente’s 20th Avenue Medical Campus, the building has been under renovation for more than 20 years. The most recent challenge the Franklin building faced was that its three elevators were unable to keep up with demand and inadequate to hold stretchers. To address these shortfalls and make way for the new thyssenkrupp elevator, general contractor Adolfson & Peterson craned a partially cantilevered foundation into place, extended the elevator lobby floor slabs and moved an exterior wall to create new elevator lobbies.
