Fifteen years ago, on March 13, 2004, fifteen vehicles were selected as finalist for the 2004 DARPA Grand Challenge (GC) for Autonomous Vehicles. What a fascinating adventure kicked off that day. A variety of folks working on the GC had diverse opinions on whether or not this would prove to be a successful experiment. Why was DARPA engaging in this forum to begin with; what was expected from these new innovations? Today, self-driving vehicle technology continues to be developed soon to reach its full potential and capabilities, but why are so many folks betting on this technology. T3 show, we will continue to explore the science, technology and innovations of the 2004 GC. I have asked Mr. Dick Ross to help me discuss the adventure that was started March 13, 2004. We will journey back to remember how we got to the Los Angeles to Las Vegas autonomous vehicle event, the 2004 DARPA Grand Challenge. How has automobile technologies impacted on our own lives today from the 2004 GC?
