Hemma Hos Strage

Hösten 1978 bytte den unga synthduon VCL XI (som döpt sig efter ett diagram på baksidan av Kraftwerks album "Radio-activity") namn till Orchestral Manouvres in the Dark och gjorde sin första spelning på Eric's Club i Liverpool. Andy McCluskey och Paul Humphreys kom från arbetarhem. De hade inte råd med keyboards så Paul byggde egna elektroniska instrument genom att plocka ut kretskorten ur sina mostrars radioapparater. Till slut köpte de en Korg-500 på avbetalning och skickade en demo med låten "Electricity" till Tony Wilson på skivbolaget Factory i Manchester.
