There are a lot of hip hop artist that have "fallen off" in the past few years. On the flip side it seems like the R&B artist are on the rise. I really only listen to rap/hip hop when I'm rolling, but I have to admit some of the R&B music that drops nowadays is pretty hot. It USED to be a distinct difference between the two. The melodies and moods of the songs where more about love and relationships in R&B barring the occasional song about partying. Lately though we have a lot of songs from the R&B side that are just as self centered, boastful and even violent (bust ya windows out ya car) as some rap songs. The actual production (beats) are becoming less distictive also. R&B was supposed to be the "grown folks" music for the most part back in the day. It was the one that you could count on to mellow down the mood and chill. But it seems like now the R&B songs can jump start a party just as quick as the hottest RAP song (BLAME IT ON THE ALCOHOL).
