He is an original member of the 1970s soul group Chairmen of the Board (COTB), which from 1970-1973 amassed nine Top 40 R&B hits. Those included “Give Me Just a Little More Time,” “(You’ve Got Me) Dangling on a String,” “Everything’s Tuesday,” “Pay the Piper,” “Chairman of the Board” and “Finders Keepers.” He covers their career, including having Funkadelic as COTB's backing band. Returning to recording in 2003 after a protracted break, he transformed into a prominent blues artist.
