HOLEWA – Life and Death Dialogues, Part 2 is the second in a series about having agency for those intimate processes we all share. Regardless of our socio-economic background, our level of education, our culture, geography or beliefs – we are all born into physical bodies and those bodies die. The topic of this show builds upon Part 1 where I tell the story of how my famly chose to care for my dad in his death. This show is a conversation with Mikiʻala Ayau Pescaia and Courtney Gusick who are also working in the #deathpositive space. We talk about the state of Native Hawaiian death practices as well as the ecological implications of current practices in the death care industry (at least for the US).
