In 1681 Abraham Lincoln became President. His goal as President was to end slavery in America. However, the South decided they wanted to keep slavery, mostly democrats, decided they would leave the United States. They wanted to keep their slaves. They created the Confederacy. Families fought against each other, brothers killed their own brothers. It is a part of our histroy where we were divided and today we are again divided political based on hate.
