Thur Sept 1, 2011 Mister Ron's Basement No. 1990 Sometimes we discover great, almost totally forgotten humorists here in The Basement. We have found some of the funny stories of Prentice Mulford. Mulford is much more well known today as the founder of the New Thought Movement, but from the 1860s until 1891, he made his living writing wildly popular humorous stories. In 1883, Mulford and a good number of well-known humorists were contributors to a little-known journal called The Imp. We have never seen a copy of this (but would love to). Coincidentally, we have found an 1877 Mulford story called ‘The Impersonal Journal’s Prison,’ and it is a riot. Enjoy.
