The Board of the Directors of the Economic Club of Minnesota instituted the Economic Club’s Champion of Free Trade Award in 2014. This is the only national award for contributions for expanding free trade. The intention of the board was to develop an award that would honor individual national and international leaders who have made significant contributions to the expansion of international trade. The award is also intended to highlight the importance of free trade for global prosperity and security.
