The banishment of Adam & Eve from the garden of eden being dumped into the harshness of the world had to be such a traumatic event we cannot even imagine. I see the garden of eden as the adult womb. According to the non-canonized, apocryphal “Book of Adam & Eve” found in the dead sea scrolls, Adam & Eve spent an entire year refusing to leave the entry to the garden and begging God for one more chance-redemption. The real problem was that they were changed forever with their newly found “Knowledge of Good & Evil”, they could never be the same again.
