07/25/2018 Despite our desires for permanent peace and tranquility, we are not created for a problem free life. The bible is very clear that God works everything for the good of those who love Him. The bible also tells us that God disciplines those He loves. The word “discipline” in Hebrew is “muwcar” meaning correction & instruction. The word discipline in greek is “paideia” which means training and education. When we’re told that God disciplines those He loves, we’re being told that He is continuously refining and improving us. He challenges us to grow before promoting us to our potential. He lets us endure years of discomfort and training to gain the necessary skills and abilities to end up where He wants us to eventually land. David spent 13 years under tremendous pressure including living on the run in exile while having King Saul attempting to kill him before eventually taking the throne.
