Mike Watt Back in January, I heard that Mike Watt, “the man-in-the-van with a bass in his hand”, was coming to Memphis to record. So, I reached out to him via Twitter and much to my surprise, he responded right away! I asked him to come on the show and he agreed. A few days later, after a few failed attempts to reach him, I’d given up on getting a chance to speak with him. I was home for lunch and saw that he posted photos from Cotton Row Studios here in town. I messaged him immediately and he replied back, “Can you be here in 15 minutes?” Um, fuck yes. I grew up on Mike Watt’s music. As if the Minutemen and his excellent solo work wasn’t enough to seal my life-long fandom, a few years ago he joined The Stooges, one of my favorite bands of all time.
