The collection was well received and ended up on Barack Obama's best books list of 2019. The film was directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Wife of a Spy, Storytellers) and written by Hamaguchi and Takamasa Oe. The film stars Hidetoshi Nishijima, Tōko Miura, Masaki Okada and Reika Kirishima.
