The Rochester Civic Theatre’s Civic Live series is pleased to present the next Women on Wednesdays panel and discussion, "Politics of Beauty, Part I: Black Hair - Still Tangled in Politics" on Wednesday, April 13 at 5:00 pm. Our discussion moderator will be writer and anthropologist Nicole Nfonoyim-Hara. Raised in New York City, she was born in the Dominican Republic with Cameroonian, Afro-Costa Rican, and Indian ancestry. Her writing, research, and activism grapples with issues of migration, diasporas, cities, identity formation and politics, culture, and both personal and collective myth-making. In 2008, she was awarded a Fulbright research grant to create a visual ethnography with African migrant men in Madrid, Spain. She received her BA from Swarthmore College and holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford. She currently lives in Rochester, MN.
