You Can't Sit With Us

To kick off the holiday season, we watched the compulsively watchable "classic," Christmas with the Kranks, where we uncover the TRUE villain of the movie (We begin this discussion at the 1 hr and 2 minute time stamp). Before that, we talk about what we've been watching to get into the holiday spirit, as well as discuss how we feel about the queer representation in Hallmark Christmas movies after watching The Holiday Sitter. 

After losing an episode to remote recording technical difficulties, we're finally back to cover the finale of the Laurie Strode Halloween saga. Halloween Ends is even more divisive than its predecessor, but does it deserve all the hate? Or does it deserve all the love? We couldn't let the holiday season go by without gifting everyone with a little unplanned bonus episode. We catch up on everything we've been watching since wrapping up production on a film, and go in depth into all our annual favorite Christmas watches including Home Alone, Seeds, Black Christmas, and John's thoughts on Netflix's new gay rom-com, Single All the Way. Finally, we talk about the unofficial Black Christmas fan film sequel, It's Me Billy, now streaming on youtube!

We couldn't let spooky season pass without churning out an epic Halloween episode! We went into Halloween Kills wanting to love it, and well... we had some thoughts. Immediately following our Halloween Kills review, we re-rank all the entries in the series. But first, we talk about what we've been watching. John dived into more recent horror fare like There's Someone Inside Your House and the Chucky TV series, and Spencer went vintage with a crop of Made-for-TV "classics" like Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby and Day of Judgement.   The Halloween Kills Discussion begins at the 42 minute mark!

As Pride month comes to a close, we're going out with one of the most subversive and possibly progressive (?) horror movies of the 1980s. Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker takes the psycho-biddy subgenre, throws in a dash of 80s slasher, and goes overboard with incest and homosexuality to create one hell of a lost gem of a movie. Also, we discuss our thoughts the commercialization of Pride in general in quite the old man rant. 

In our annual prom episode, we delve into the underrated Christian satire Saved! There's plenty to unpack with what this movie is trying to say, and how dark the themes and humor actually get in this "lighthearted" Mandy Moore romp. And since it's June, there is PLENTY of queer content to explore!

We're back and we're defending the queer mess-terpiece known as Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin! Though one of the most despised films in the comic book superhero genre, this one had a big impact on both of us at a young age, and there's no denying our love for every over-stylized second of it. Also discussed, Showgirls, Zack Snyder's Justice League, and Godzilla vs Kong. 

We continue our 90s cult VHS double features with two of the late '90s horror step-children! In a time where slashers ruled the box office, Disturbing Behavior and The Faculty took a chance by calling back to the likes of The Stepford Wives and Body Snatchers. We delve into why these two films are still worth a watch with their unique aesthetics and queer readings, as well as a slew of memorable performances, humor, and truly great suspense sequences. Also discussed, Netflix's The Night Stalker, William Castle's Shanks, the latest season of Drag Race, a VERY special episode of Little House on the Prairie, and the new queer musical adaptation, The Prom. 

We're back with a 90s psycho-sexual teen stalker double feature! Both The Crush and Fear are fan favorites amongst millennial queers and women, but why are we so drawn to them? And how do they hold up under a 2021 eye? We dive into the entertainment and camp value in both of these cult classics, as well as discuss the endlessly interesting (and sometimes aggravating) gender politics going on in each! Also discussed: Wonder Woman 1984, Massacre at Central High, and censoring archaic slurs in older films. 

We're back with a little stocking stuffer for all you naughty boys and girls. It's our annual Christmas episode and we're making the yuletide gay as hell with Hallmark's alleged queer movie, The Christmas House, and Clea DuVall's Happiest Season! Are these worthy new yearly traditions? Has Hallmark made up for its past indiscretions with their new inclusivity? Did John read way too deep into Happiest Season and come out depressed and lonely thinking about past heartbreaks? Tune in to find out! We also talk about all the other yuletide goodness we've been watching, including yearly favorites and more new offerings. 

Happy Halloween! For our special bonus episode this year, we decided to gush over our love of the 1985 ABC TV Movie, The Midnight Hour! Watch along with us, or just listen as we gush about this gorgeously made little movie, while going off on a number of horror and Halloween related tangents. And don't forget, Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun. 

Happy Halloween, ghoulfriends! We've talked about the Halloween films as a whole in the past, but this time, we're giving the often maligned Jamie Lloyd/Cult of Thorn trilogy another watch! We dive into everything from that amazing Part 4 opening, to Pleasence's straight up INSANE Loomis performance in Part 5, to what the hell exactly IS going on during the finale of Part 6. And yes, we talk Tina. Lots and lots of Tina. You're welcome. We also chat about some of the sequels that almost were! 

With everyone's favorite spooky season officially in full swing, we sat down for a Ray Bradbury double feature with two film adaptations that take a sobering and honest look at aging and mortality from the eyes of a child. Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Halloween Tree should be annual October watches for kids and adult alike, and we dive into everything from queer coded villains, to the representation of evil in human form (and what it says about religion - or lack thereof), to the importance of not patronizing the youth when it comes to the reality of death. Light your pumpkin spice candle, cuddle under a blanket, and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

Life and Covid might have gotten in the way of us releasing our annual Pride episode in June, but we're gay as hell all year round, so why limit our celebration to just one month! We dove into one of our favorite Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, Freddy's Revenge, as well as the brand new documentary exploring the homosexual themes and backlash of said film, Scream, Queen: My Nightmare on Elm Street. But before that, we catch up with how pandemic life is treating us, and talk about what we've been watching, including Urban Legend, Trilogy of Terror 2, Canada's Drag Race, Don't Go in the House, and the Rhode Island homegrown indie slasher, Death Drop Gorgeous. 

Miss Rona made sure social events were canceled this year, which is all the more reason for us to make sure we make a return with our annual Prom episode! It's another VHS horror double feature as we dive into the fourth installments of both the Prom Night and Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchises. These are often regarded as the worst entries in each of their respective franchises, but we found a lot to enjoy in both of these sometimes misguided gems. But before that, we'll talk about how we're doing in lock-down, and what we've been watching to occupy our down time.

Happy New Queer! We celebrate the beginning of a new decade by watching Blumhouse's latest Into the Dark installment, Midnight Kiss. Is this the gay slasher we've been waiting for all decade? Also, we ramble off our favorite movies from the past ten years, as well as talk about all the precautions to take before meeting someone off of a trashy dating app.

The Christmas season isn't over until you hear our thoughts on the new Black Christmas, as well as 2012's Silent Night! Both remakes of classic slashers do their best to differentiate themselves from their predecessors, but are either successful at becoming yearly Yuletide traditions? Also discussed, everything we've been watching to get us into the holiday spirit.
