Julia Jacklin [Performance & Interview Only]
31/01/2023 Duración: 27minOn the show this time, it’s the minimalist-no-rubbish storytelling of singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin. The Aussie songwriter Julia Jacklin composes thoughtful lyrics and spacious arrangements, which in combination with her fresh harmonic choices make for a rewarding listening experience. Her latest album Pre-Pleasure is named for the state we all exist in - the moment right before a mythical state - where we have arrived, we have done the work, and we can now live in the state of “pleasure.” Problem is - that kind of work is never done, so we remain in this state - pre-pleasure, in perpetuity. This episode features 3 songs from the new record, one from a Sub Pop Singles Club release, and a bonus from her 2019 in-studio, the epic “Don’t Know How to Keep Loving You” from the album “Crushing.” Both are available from the Polyvinyl Record Company. For an extra gift, we’re sharing a snippet from labelmates Tokyo Police Club’s KEXP in-studio session from 2008. Recorded 07/07/2022.
