28/04/2017 Duración: 36minThis week on the SyrupCast, Igor Bonifacic, Patrick O'Rourke, Zach Gilbert, and Rose Behar give the low down on the fight for net neutrality in Canada. On April 20th, the CRTC ruled that Videotron's zero rated Unlimited Music service could no longer operate in its current form given the carriers preferential treatment of certain customers and music streaming platforms. The CRTC also went on to use this ruling as a means of strengthening their stance in favour of net neutrality by introducing stricter regulations regarding differential pricing. This week marks the Canadian launch of LG's newest flagship phone, the G6. Following the recent release of Samsung's Galaxy S8, the SyrupCast crew is asking if this is a swing and a miss for LG? Does a $100 price difference make any difference to someone in the market for a new high-end smart phone? It is no secret that Canadian's pay exorbitant amounts for cell phone plans in comparison to other countries, and MobileSyrup has gone into great detail covering this issue many times in the past. This week, Toronto's City Council has jumped on the bandwagon by introducing a motion asking the CRTC to pursue getting all major Canadian carriers to offer reasonably priced unlimited data plans. The motion passed, but the SyrupCast team is skeptical of the true intent behind the discussion and whether it will actually lead to any change. Tune in to
