Paul has made it to Jerusalem where he is greeted by James and the elders. They rejoice to hear of the incredible gospel transformation that occurred during Paul's last two missionary journeys. The champion of Grace comes home to meet many new Jewish converts who are struggling to understand what role the law and temple play in their new life. The elders suggest Paul take a vow and spend some time in the temple to ease the weak conscience of the Jews, and to show that he still has a reverence for the law and the temple. While Paul is in the temple, some Asian Jews who were familiar foes (Acts 20.19) agitate the crowd and pounce on Paul who is quickly seized by the Roman authorities. Paul kindly asks to address the Jewish crowd, who listens quietly to his conversion story which consists of an epic encounter with a Risen Jesus. Paul shares Christ's calling on his life to minister the gospel to the Gentiles and at this word, the Jews become hysterical and demand his death. In God's sovereignty, Paul is saved

Here in Chapter 20, we see something surprising. It appears the Holy Spirit is speaking through Paul's traveling companions made up of apostles, deacons, evangelists and prophets that he should NOT go to the Holy City. Does it ever seem like God's plans and God's timing can be confusing, but when you can finally look back and see how he worked everything together, it all makes sense? As Paul and Silas travel on their missionary journey, the Lord forbids them to go to certain places, only to bring them to another where, for all intents and purposes, it doesn't look like it's going to go well for them. But in the midst of tremendous pain and trials, the Lord is glorified through their heart for Him.

  • Acts 15:28 "The Importance of Purity" - Audio

    30/01/2011 Duración: 01h01min

After the Apostles had decided to write to the newly saved Gentile believers, they determined not to give them any big list of commands. They simply said, "Stay away from idols, and meet sacrificed to them, and don't sin sexually." Sexual sin during their time was still as rampant as ever, and it's no different today. Many people don't know or believe what the Bible says about it, and so they continue to commit sexual sin. Pastor Rory Rodgers teaches on the importance of Purity.
