It seems like the month of August is "Bully AEW Month" if you are WWE. Lots of news about Counter Programming, and what WWE is doing to derail AEW. Last week it was the rumor of a September 20th PLE headlined by Brock Lesnar vs John Cena going head to head with AEW ALL OUT. According to recent reports, WWE may be playing a major role behind the scenes, pushing TNA to become the number two promotion in the industry. Could WWE be using TNA as a way to weaken AEW before their next TV rights deal in 2027? Reports suggest WWE even holds the right to purchase TNA or block outside sales. An absolutely loaded week of news this week. WWE started the week of with a major announcement of a 1.6 billion dollar TV rights deal with ESPN to be the new home for their PLE's, while the UFC announced a 7.7 billion dollar deal with Paramount Network. The UFC deal with ultimately eliminate the PPV model that UFC has been known for, for years, while the WWE deal is not really consumer friendly without jumping thru hurdles. On the creative side, Brock Lesnar is back but wasn't at TV this week but it's being reported that WWE is getting ready to possibly use the biggest way they can counter program AEW, with Lesnar vs Cena going head to head against AEW ALL OUT on September 20th. Also, Karrion Kross is officially gone from WWE. Thoughts on the documentary, and what's next for both him, and Scarlett. After last week, it looks like CM Punk may have some LA Knight problems, after he cost him his World Heavyweight Title against Seth Rollins. In one of the most shocking WWE returns of all time, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE for the first time since SummerSlam 2023, after Cody Rhodes recaptured the WWE Championship from John Cena. Met Life Stadium welcomed him with a monster reaction but it's a very different story online. Though, I think everyone can agree, the behavior of Brock Lesnar is sick, and downright weird, it was WWE Legal who deemed him ready to come back to the company.
