This week, celebrate Star Wars Day (May the Fourth) with Mousetalgia as we dive into the dark side! Actor, visual effects artist and animator C. Andrew Nelson joins us this week to talk about his 12-year role portraying Darth Vader for Lucasfilm. Andrew talks about the nature of Darth Vader (and we're sure we can feel the good in him!) as well as what it was like to don the suit and make dozens of public appearances as the dark lord. Andrew also talks about his time at Lucasfilm developing games for the Star Wars galaxy, and describes how he helped to evolve the concept of the lightsaber. This week, Team Mousetalgia celebrates Disneyland of the '70s and '80s with Disneyland Tour Guide Laurie Jerome, who talks about her years at Disneyland as a VIP Hostess and a leader of Disney University. Laurie talks about starting out as a Main Entrance ticket taker, and shares some of her experiences hosting VIPs on their trips through the park including Audrey Hepburn, John Travolta, Patrick Duffy, and Paul Anka. This week, Team Mousetalgia welcomes animation legend Tom Sito to the show to talk about his long career as an animator with Disney and beyond. Tom discusses his start in the animation industry, working for Disney during the renaissance in the 1980s, working with some of the greatest talents in the animation industry both inside and out of the Disney studio, reflections on Roy Disney, his time with Dreamworks and Warner Brothers, and the universal appeal of animation. Kristen also shares some fun facts about Walt Disney at the age of 30, and we wonder who we'd enjoy being sequestered with during a global crisis.

Welcome to day 23 (and counting) since Disneyland closed indefinitely. In honor of this moment, we talk about Walt Disney Animation's 23rd feature release - The Rescuers! Kristen brings us a load of fast facts and fun trivia about this oft-overlooked Disney classic. Then, Jeff takes a closer look at the life of a Disney Legend: WED Imagineer Harriet Burns. We discuss her time working for the studio and talk to some people who knew her very well - Phil and Robyn Palmquist, close friends of Harriet, who share stories about Harriet's life outside of the studio. First, Jeff reports on the magical musical performance of Frozen, which has just started its first road show to follow the success the show is having on Broadway. We discuss the similarities and differences between this and the Disney California Adventure Frozen stage show, and celebrate a revisiting of this popular story. Then, Jeff reports from the opening weekend of Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland. First, we take a look back at Star Wars in 1977 as it began to dominate popular culture, and then Kristen describes "The Star Wars Archives," a massive book from Taschen that shares some of George Lucas's perspective on his original film trilogy. It's an animated feature anniversary week on Mousetalgia! 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty celebrate birthdays over the next two weeks, and we take a look at the history of the Disney studio during the time of the development of these films and celebrate their legacies with animator and Disney Legend Floyd Norman, who worked on both of these groundbreaking films - one of which nearly ended the animation arm of the studio, and one which saved it. Floyd shares stories from the creation of these films, and talks about the past, present and future state of animation at the Walt Disney Studio. Also - Jeff attends a talk at the Walt Disney Family Museum with Walt Disney Records producer Randy Thornton, and Kristen Carr reports from day one of Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland!

This week, Jeff takes a road trip to Disneyland for a rainy Christmas day experience and shares some stories. But first, we speak with Tyler Bliss, an actor who was able to participate as a background performer on an episode of Encore, a series on Disney+. Tyler talks about the experience, the process of making a reality series, and meeting the legendary Stephen Schwartz. Then, Jeff visits a very rainy Disneyland on Christmas day and talks about lightsabers, Napa Rose, and the holiday experience - plus a trip to see a pop-up museum of Carrie Fisher memorabilia in Hollywood and a stop at the Fess Parker Winery.
