It seems we live in a culture where everyone needs to have an opinion about something. We are slow to listen, quick to speak, and quick to become angry. Maybe the most important, the wisest, or spiritual thing to say is...nothing.

Holding in resentment, hurt and anger is the opposite of healing. When we fail to forgive we are usually hurting ourselves more than others. When is it the right time to say I forgive you?

Knowing when we need help takes being honest with ourselves. Saying I Give Up might be the strongest thing you could say.

We become what we focus on. Are you intentionally following your beliefs and changing because of them?

We love french fries, sunsets, and our mothers. What does saying I love you mean and why is it important?

Words can be our biggest asset or liability. Recognizing the need and saying I'm sorry when appropriate might be the beginning of healing a hurt.

Don’t allow a good thing to become a god thing in your life. Instead of putting our screens on the altar, we have made them the altar. Where you turn for comfort reveals what you put your hope in. God wants to give you wisdom and direction, for you to power down and give Him space to work in your life.

When your mind and emotions have been hijacked by a screen, when you’re constantly distracted throughout your day, it becomes incredibly difficult to hear from God. Is it possible that God is trying to provide some clarity, but you’re too busy staring at a screen? You can miss the ways He’s directing you, guiding you, and leading you.

God, what do you want me to do next? God, am I following your plan? These can be frequent prayers for people who want to know God’s will and fulfill it. But what if living out God’s plan for you has less to do with a specific decision and more to do with how you approach whatever comes your way? In this message, we’ll shift from hoping we’re following the “right” plan to knowing what God really wants from us and for us.

We often wonder what it will cost us to follow Jesus. We may even ask, “Is it really worth it?” What will it cost us at work, in our relationships, in our finances? But what if Jesus wants more for us if we will just trust him and go “all-in”? This can sound intimidating, but God is a good father who sent his Son to give us a fully abundant life. In order to get the life Jesus wants to give you, you have to let go of the one you are currently holding onto.

We all have a picture of who we think God is. These pictures and beliefs have been shaped by things we have learned and experienced along the way. But what if you have been given an inaccurate picture of who God really is?

No one expected it, but we all experienced it.

A person's last words are often loving and tender. There's no talk about the weather or sports. As the Apostle Paul gives his last words, he quotes the words of Jesus and connects grace to generosity. He encourages us to trust in God's grace and live radically generous lives.

When we hear the word "legacy," we often think about leaving money, property, and possessions behind to those we love. Legacy is much more than those things. We must ask ourselves, "What do I want to be remembered for?"

If we’re honest with ourselves, many of us don’t like the word "Surrender." It feels like we are losing, and we don’t like to lose. In order for us to win, however, we must surrender to God. There will always be opposition, but it won't be with God.

In Acts 4 we learn about the boldness of the early Church. God has given us the same boldness through the Holy Spirit. At Compass, we will NEVER stop talking about the goodness and greatness of Jesus. We cannot stop sharing what we have said and what we have seen.

Meaningful relationships are the backbone of life. We were created to live in community. Even the greatest TV shows all center around this idea. Everyone longs and to be needed and to be known. God has an answer for us to build the best version of community.
