27/03/2023 Duración: 41minJason Miller - What do we take from the Apostles' Creed when it gives so much language to the death of Jesus? Is this a story primarily about our failure? If you would like to join us in this practice, make sure to have some form of cracker or bread and wine or juice. 3.19 [PRACTICE] Letting Go Gathering
20/03/2023 Duración: 51minDuring Lent, we're reflecting on the ways that life often calls us to let go. Relationships. Visions of our future. Old ways of doing things that aren't fruitful anymore. In this weekend’s gatherings, our friend, Becky Ykema, led our community in some practices to reflect on and engage our own stories of letting go. Sometimes letting go of these things can feel a bit like dying, but that's why Lent is a good time for this reflection. And as we make our way to Good Friday and Easter, we remember Jesus' death and resurrection, knowing that he walks with us in those small deaths. Today’s gathering includes the practices of singing, breath prayer, communal reading, open floor, holy space, and the Eucharist. If you would like to join us in the practice of Eucharist, make sure to have some form of cracker or bread and wine or juice. If you consider yourself to be a part of South Bend City Church, you can always support the ongoing work of SBCC by giving at: southbendcitychurch.com/give. Just select the “podcast” op

2.19 [TEACHING] male and female God created them...
20/02/2023 Duración: 01h07minJason Miller - We’re living at time where conversations about gender are everywhere. The subjugation of women in the world and in the Church is being called out. The harmful power of toxic masculinity is being confronted. And the visibility of transgender and nonbinary people is increasing. Alongside all of this, we’re seeing new clashes in matters of public policy. This teaching is an exploration of these conversations, and the questions they raise, within a theological frame. 1.29 [TEACHING] Money Possibilities
30/01/2023 Duración: 40minDr. Angela Logan - We jumped back in with our series on money, as we focused on Money Possibilities. Because we are icons made in the image of God, we are called to be generous, both individually and collectively, because God is generous. But what does generosity look like, and how can we live in the currents of generosity? This week, we reflect on "The 4 Ts" (Time, Talent, Treasure, and Testimony), to learn from Scripture how God shows up in those areas, and how we can challenge ourselves to show up for our city and the world. This weekend, we got to hear from Dr. Angela Logan. Dr. Logan is an Associate Teaching Professor and the St. Andre Bessette Academic Director of the Master of Nonprofit Administration in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. Her research focuses on the intersection of gender, race, and nonprofit and philanthropic leadership. She is the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Philanthropic Studies from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Phil
