This had originally been commanded as part of the Abrahamic Covenant in Genesis 17, but the previous generation failed to obey this command after leaving Egypt. We discuss the meaning of circumcision in Scripture and its parallels with baptism, and learn from Joshua's obedient faith and his commitment to passing it on to coming generations.
