In 1995 Carla King rode a Ural motorcycle around the borders of the United States as an experiment for her publishing company and Ural America. After endless breakdowns and problems Carla, the Ural and the sidecar made the trip but not until many parts where replaced on route. Carl wrote her book American Borders about the trip. Glen Heggstad had some tough beginnings, including foster homes and living on the street. He travelled at the age of 16 and joined a bike gang in his early twenties but soon changed his ways and took up martial arts. Learning progressed to teaching and soon Glen had the most successful martial arts school in his area and became well respected for his school and his work with troubled youth. Glen then decided to retire from martial arts competition and loaded his motorcycle for adventure heading south for Tierra del Fuego. Except it didn't quite work out as planned, Glen was captured in Colombia by rebel guerrillas and held prisoner. He was tortured, starved, beaten and abused during his five weeks in captivity but he managed to stage his imminent death which won him freedom. After that horrific ordeal he didn't even go home, Glen had his original goal still in his sights and never let go. - He rode to Tierra del Fuego as planned. Incredible story.  Rachel Lasham and Ed March’s C90 Adventures   Hunkered down in Canmore Alberta Lasham and March ride through the Candian winter.   Here’s proof that you don’t need a big motorcycle to have a real adventure. Ed and his trusty Honda C90 have travelled around the world, visiting 36 countries and covering over 70,000 miles.    Seven months ago, Ed and Rachel Lasham from England, began a journey from Alaska to Argentina each on their own Honda C90.    They don’t just want to make time though, they decided to take a side trip to explore Canada from coast to coast, adding almost 20,000 km to their trip. Although it’s the middle of winter, they aren’t letting that stop them!    Ed and Rachel regal us with stories of their adventures, people they meet and challenges they face (perhaps cold weather camping could be one of those…brrrrr!) Jolandie Rust - South African Motorcycle Adventurer     Meet Jolandie Rust, affectionately known as Jo, who inadvertently became the first woman to circumnavigate the entire African continent riding solo on a motorcycle. Really, it wasn’t her original plan, but circumstances changed her goals, just a bit. From pedal power to motor power, Jo tells a story about overcoming fears and living her dream. Starting out on her bicycle, she got part way through her trip before she was the victim of an armed robbery.
