The Spire sits on a razer's edge and middle city is at a boiling point. The Vermission Way was the great experiment that failed. Now the Spire is filled with empty rail tunnels that connect and reconnect to a twisting labyrinth of changing ideas and patterns.  It was a perfect way to avoid the authorities and sneak a squad of Gnoll veterans into Middle City. But in order to reach Middle City our Sage must first reach a tunnel he's been in before... I'm sure it's the next left... Can't be far now... Derelictus is in chaos. After the brazen escape of twelve gnolls from the Arena the entire undercity has descended into violence as a bounty has been offered for the escaped prisoners return. There are those who resist in The Spire through their works, through their performance, through their art. These Idols can mold and shape the very soul of a society through their creations. The Spire, the mile-high tower city of the Drow, operates under the occupation of the High Elves. The Ministry of Our Hidden Mistress operates in the shadows with one mission, to subvert control of the Spire and restore it to Dark Elf control. Deep in the Middle City a Lajhan priest opens up a small church in an abandoned city watch tower while a Sage of the Vermissian Way completes a mission for the Ministry. When a desperate plea for help reaches their door they'll have to decide how much they're willing to risk to bring change to The Spire. Before venturing into the world of The Spire we thought it would be a good idea to talk to one of it's creators. Thankfully he agreed to the conversation!  Grant Howitt is the co-creator of Spire, co-owner of Rowan, Rook, and Decard and the mind behind games such as Goblin Quest, Unbound, One Last Job, and Honey Heist! Recorded in the halls of BreakoutCon2019 we got to a chance to meet Sharang Biswas. Sharang makes weird games, the kind of games you'll most likely come across in an art gallery installation rather than a convention room floor. But along with making those games he's also involved as an educator and writer examining how we play games and how we can better design them to convey the stories and experiences we're trying to share in those games.  Whatever conversation I thought I was going to have I quickly realized I was in way over my head about five minutes in and just immersed myself in the knowledge he was willing to share with me. Sharang has given the "how" part of how we play games some serious thought and I hope you enjoy the conversation we got to share. Far from Huckleberry Farm in the basement of a former government building the remaining survivors plan a daring escape.  The Prophet and The Visionary mourn the loss of their friend and meet The Guide who will help them find the supplies they need a secure a way home. Hopefully their deaths will not be in vain and Huckleberry Farm can begin to rebuild it's trust in itself.
