Dudes On Hockey

With Logan Couture back in the lineup, and Raffi Torres on a conditioning assignment in the AHL, the Sharks are basically a healthy team again, and have won four straight.  How are their chances to make the playoffs?

The Sharks now have the best road record in the NHL, which is just good enough to put them in playoff position in the worst division in hockey.  Can they win at home against bad teams?

The Sharks have followed up their perfect road trip by losing 7 of 8, and the last six in a row.  Are there any positives for this team?

The Sharks only win one at home, but they are still in second place in the division.  With some very winnable games coming, and the possible return of Logan Couture, the Sharks might see an uptick soon.

The Sharks were perfect on the recent road trip, winning all six games in various fashion.  Some were come-from-behind, others low scoring; all were impressive.

The Sharks drop a home game against the Isles, but start the road trip off with two wins against Detroit and Buffalo.

The Sharks lost to two pretty good teams this week before beating the terrible Avs – barely.  Will they rebound and win more against some bad to mediocre teams this week?

Still very little happening in Sharks land.  Only two small pieces of news- the additions of Steve Spott to the coaching staff, and Frazer McLaren to the Barracuda.  Training camp can’t get here soon enough.

Last year the Sharks were a “tomorrow team”, and now after the signings of Paul Martin and Joel Ward, the Sharks’ tomorrow has come early.  The Dudes discuss the moves, whether the strategy is sound, and try to fit the pieces together of a very different Sharks team than last week.

The Sharks used the #9 overall pick in 2015 on Timo Meier, and while lots of big-name players moved the first day, the Sharks were not a part of it.  But they did snag a goalie, Martin Jones, from the Bruins.

The Sharks have the most important draft pick they’ve had in years- the #9 pick in Friday’s draft.  The Dudes talk about the gravity of that, and the Sharks position to improve with draft picks, trades, and free agent signings.

The Sharks have chosen a new head coach, the former head coach of New Jersey and Florida, Peter DeBoer.  The Dudes weigh in on this choice, and what changes (or lack thereof) in results this will lead to.

Mike Babcock has made his decision, and it’s the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Todd McLellan actually beat him to the punch in choosing Edmonton, but the question remains- who is still out there, and who will be coaching the Sharks in the fall?

The Sharks have solidified their roots in San Jose with an arena deal, and the owner speaks.  No news on the coaching front, but that’s to be expected.
