From the world of stock car racing: Friendship Motor Speedway in North Carolina is going back to its former status as an exciting dirt track, with promoters Dennis Wood and Phil Hall at the reins.

Dennis Nixon is the promoter of the stock car side of the South Georgia Motorsports Park, a dual purpose venue with top level drag racing and stock cars also. Motor confusion is making it difficult for promoters of late model events according to Nixon, and he has some answers.

Doug Smith, GM at ACE Speedway, a protégé of Humpy Wheeler, has taken over the helm of one of North Carolina's finest asphalt race tracks.

Announced tonight on the "O'Reilly ASA Fastlane", the ASA Late Model Series has created a Triple Crown that could earn a race team a $100,000 bonus. The three races are part of the Challenge Series division and will be at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Salem Speedway and Memphis Motorsports Park. ASA Late Model Series President Ron Varney made the announcement of this breaking news on the show Wednesday evening.
