It seems like an offer too good to be true. God, the creator of the universe, wants to be friends...with me?!? And it's easy?!? No Way! So, in honor of this happy time, I talk about two things I really like a lot: God and Girl Scout cookies. Believe it or not, they actually have some similarities. Listen and see.

When we go on a trip we usually plan it out. We don't get on a road without knowing where that road goes first. The same is true in life. Sometimes we choose a road in life that leads down a wrong path. Things like anxiety, anger or fear quickly jump in our locomotive, play conductor and try to take over our happy. If you're like me, they tend to come at you like a freight train and just run you over. The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay? God? Little? How does that even work? Is it true? How does that affect me? If we don't learn to see God in the minutiae, we will miss God in the majority of our lives. God is so big and so powerful that He can hold, and therefore control, the whole universe in the palm of His hand. Yet He is so small that He fits into the smallest detail of our lives. That is a side of God many don't see. Everybody loves the baby Jesus. It's here that we see the softness and vulnerability of God, and it is very comforting and attractive to us, that God would be like that. However, now that He is grown up, He is still the same. His character hasn't changed - He's still the same God. If God is big, He is in control. If God is small, He cares. If God is both...wow, what a powerful combination. God becomes Human. Memories always seem better the second time around - when you're remembering them, not when you're making them. If we really think about the birth of Jesus, it definitely does not come out as warm and cozy as we tend to think of it now 2,000 years later. All is calm?? All is bright?? Come with me as we take a little different look at what the original Nativity looked and felt like and what really made it warm, peaceful, joyful etc. When we apply this principle to our lives, we will be calm and bright and maybe even sleep in heavenly peace too.
