This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday.  What is “pentecost Sunday?”  Well, in the Jewish tradition it marked the celebration of the which occurred 50 days after the passover.  In our Christian faith, it occurs 7 weeks after Easter Sunday.  A lot can happen in 50 days!  This week we will look at Acts 2:22-41, which captures the moment that the movement known as the church began it’s outward progression.  Church is more than a group of friends, a building, or something you attend.  The church is a movement that crosses all boundaries.  Whether in-person or on-line, we look forward to worshiping with you

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled (Matthew 5:6).  Taste and see that the Lord is good.  How happy is the person who takes refuge in Him! God often calls us to challenges that collide with our sense of fear and logic.  Challenges that unmask our insufficiencies and reveal God’s complete sufficiency. David was young shepherd living watching sheep and delivering food, when God called him to fight his fears and face the giant.  His story of courage and faith now stands among the heroes of faith.  

It was sunrise on the Sea of Galilee; the discouraged disciples had sat in the boat all night and caught nothing. Through the early morning light, they saw a man on the shore making breakfast. Then everything changed: the fish started biting, Peter found a new calling, and a broken soul found healing. Be honest, have you ever re-gifted a Christmas present?  Maybe it was a fruit-cake from your long lost Aunt or that vintage VHS movie that your Blu-Ray player won't play.  It may surprise you to know that Christmas was meant to be re-gifted.  God gives, and we receive so that we may give what God gave. It's Christmas rediscovered!

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes. Instead, you should say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it (James 4:13-16, CSB).  Expectations are often the enemy of thanksgiving. This week we close out our series on Peace with a sermon called Finding the Good in the Now. 

What is the difference between being helpful and hurtful?  How do you respond when criticized? What did Jesus mean when he said: "Do not judge?"  This week Lash will discuss answers to these questions as we look at James 4:11-12  in part 4 of our series on Peace:  Being Helpful, Not Hurtful.   

Peace, do you have it?  It hides well: many seek and yet few find it.  Many times we do not have peace because we are searching in the wrong places.  This week we look at James 4:7-12 in a sermon entitled, "The Answers Within."  Join us at 9:45 or 11:00, as Lash discusses some steps that each of us can take to be honest with ourselves and loving with others in our pursuit of peace.    

"But He gives us greater grace (James 4:6)."  Grace is the greatest gift God has ever given us, and often the last thing we are willing to give to others.  A spirit of grace flows from a relationship with God.  The closer we walk with Him, the more His grace walks and talks in us.  This Sunday, we continue our series, "Peace," with part 2: Greater Grace
