  • Coach Harvey Hyde has hot takes on USC's 45-31 win over Michigan State

    22/09/2025 Duración: 58min

On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the very late night victory for the Trojans, taking down Big Ten foe Michigan State 45-31 in the Coliseum. With the 8 p.m. local kickoff the game didn't get over until close to midnight and while it wasn't the cleanest performance, USC is now 4-0 and 2-0 in conference play. Coach Hyde starts the show talking about how improved this USC offense is and how he liked the game plan against Michigan State, utilizing two back sets, play action passes and quarterback runs. With one of the top receivers out and losing a top offensive lineman didn't derail this offense that is playing at an elite level right now. On the defensive side Coach Hyde talks about the much improved play of the defensive line, some shortcomings from the linebackers and how he feels the secondary is playing confused and it is hurting their ability to play at a higher level. Coach loves freshman Jahkeem Stewart and feels he has th

  • Tunnel Vision: USC offense continues to surge while the defense tries to find its way

    22/09/2025 Duración: 01h13min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio breaking down the Trojans 45-31 victory over Michigan State late Saturday night in the Coliseum. It looked like USC had put the game away but the Spartans, in large part to a series of SC mistakes, clawed their way back in the third quarter cutting the lead to just 7 points. At that point quarterback Jayden Maiava and the rest of the offense took over and created some much needed separation, thwarting any potential MSU miracle comeback. Through four games the offense has been elite with no turnovers for Maiava and only four punts on the season, one of which was garbage time in the final seconds of the Michigan State victory. USC is first in total offense at 584 yards per game, first in points per game at 52.5, 1st in points per play, 1st in yards per play at 9.1, 4th in nation with 7.1 yards per rush and 4th with 11.9 yards per pass attempt. It has been

  • Tunnel Vision: Previewing Saturday night's Big Ten after dark with USC facing Michigan State

    19/09/2025 Duración: 01h16min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio previewing the Trojans late night showdown against Michigan State. The Spartans come into the Coliseum boasting a 3-0 record with quarterback Aidan Chiles playing at a high level and more importantly, not turning the ball over. USC is coming off its first real Big Ten road win at Purdue and will try to secure another conference win before the huge road showdown with No. 9 Illinois. The crew talks about the state of this USC football program heading into the game with an offense that has generated more yards per game than any other program, the most sacks in the country and some concerns in a secondary that has struggled at times and is dealing with multiple injuries. Looking at the Spartans, there are certainly some concerns despite the undefeated record. The defense has been leaking, giving up points to FCS Youngstown State last weekend, and there are mu

  • Preparing for Michigan State plus cornerback Chasen Johnson out for the season

    17/09/2025 Duración: 01h30min

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") and intern India Otto are back to talk about USC's successful road trip to Purdue, preparing for a late night game against Michigan State and losing cornerback Chasen Johnson for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Both Ryan and Connor were in West Lafayette to witness the Trojans take down the Boilermakers 33-17 following a three-hour lightning delay. It was another turnover free performance by quarterback Jayden Maiava and the first win for the Trojans in the Eastern time zone since 2012. On Saturday night USC will push to go 2-0 in conference play with Michigan State coming to the Coliseum. The 3-0 Spartans will have to adjust to an 11 p.m. EDT kickoff time while slowing down the explosive Trojan offense. The crew gives their thoughts on the MSU matchup with a road trip to No. 9 Illinois looming. On the injury front, we learned on Tuesday that cornerback Chasen Johnson would be missing the re

  • Helium Boys Podcast: USC finally wins true B1G road game, Michigan State preview & ranking Greek Mythology movies

    16/09/2025 Duración: 02h30min

The Helium Boys are back from the road!  Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return to the remote studio to break down USC finally winning a Big Ten road game outside Los Angeles with Saturday's 33-17 victory over Purdue. It marked USC's first win in the Eastern Time Zone since 2012.  Shotgun spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' discussing the unique rain delay that caused this game to be delayed more than three hours and the vintage drainage system at Ross-Ade Stadium that led to a dry field. Chris uses his time to praise the USC fans that made the trek to West Lafayette and finally got to see a Trojan win on the road after struggles last year.  The podcasting duo then break down the positives and negatives with a hearty "Stock Up/Stock Down" segment, discussing among other things USC's three interceptions and the celebration of the most notable one along with the impact the tight ends are having. The pass rush that produced 31 pressures and a run game that got stronger as the game are also discussed. In the se

  • Coach Harvey Hyde on USC's first true Big Ten road win

    15/09/2025 Duración: 47min

On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about a historic weekend for this Trojan football team, with the first ever true Big Ten road win, the longest weather delay for a USC football game and the largest Trojan to ever score a touchdown! Coach Hyde gets into USC's 33-17 win over Purdue in West Lafayette that puts the Trojans at 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The game wasn't as clean as the first two in the Coliseum, but to be able to get a victory on the road against an improved team under bizarre circumstances with the over three hour lightning delay shows this team has some resilience and is capable of battling through adversity. The guys talk about some of the huge plays in this game, including the 360-pound defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett plucking a tipped pass out of the air and returning it 70-yards for the touchdown. The Trojans have had some big man touchdowns over the years, but no one as big as Jah who showed so

  • Tunnel Vision: Trojans get off the schneid with a 33-17 road win at Purdue

    15/09/2025 Duración: 01h19min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and Chris Trevino are back from West Lafayette where they witnessed the USC football team winning a game in the Eastern time zone for the first time since 2012, a 33-17 victory over Big Ten foe Purdue. The Trojans didn't win a true conference road game last season and now get that monkey off their back as the Big Ten schedule begins to heat up. It wasn't the cleanest game for Lincoln Riley and company, with 9 penalties for 104 yards, 4 for 13 on 3rd down conversions and giving up double-digit explosive passing plays to Purdue. But the Trojans were able to make some big plays of their own, including three interceptions with a pick-6 by Jamaal Jarrett, 10 yards per pass attempt by Jayden Maiava, zero punts and a perfect 4 for 4 on fourth down plays. The crew breaks down everything they saw and heard in West Lafayette, including the unexpected three hour weather delay that put all game plans in jeop

  • USC Triple-Double: Terrance Williams II discusses long road to recovery; Shotgun shares practice notes

    12/09/2025 Duración: 01h01min

The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down some recent USC men's basketball practices, including Shotgun getting his first opportunity to see second-year head coach Eric Musselman run a practice. The podcasting duo talk with the lone scholarship returner from last season as Terrance Williams II joins the show to talk about his road to recovery from a broken scaphoid -- a small boat-shaped bone located in the wrist -- suffered last year during a game at Oregon. Williams discusses the trials and tribulations he endured during his rehab for an injury he initially thought would only require a short recovery and allow him to get back on the court by the end of the 2024-25 season. Williams talks about his relationship with Musselman and how it led to him returning to USC despite the rest of the roster departing. He also discusses his role as a leader this season and wha

  • Tunnel Vision: USC hits the road, taking on a rejuvenated Purdue Boilermakers squad

    12/09/2025 Duración: 01h26min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio to preview the Trojans first road game and first Big Ten contest of the season, a trip to West Layfette to face Purdue. The 2-0 Boilermakers have already doubled their win total from last season thanks to a complete roster rebuild from new head coach Barry Odom and an upset of the Trojans would be a massive boost for this once proud program. USC took care of business at home, outscoring its overmatched opponents by a combined 99 points. Now head coach Lincoln Riley and company will try to pick up its first true Big Ten road win against Purdue, which would be USC's first victory in the Eastern or Central time zones since 2012. With expectations high for the Trojans in 2025, the goal has to be not only a win in West Layfette, but a resounding victory that lets the conference know the USC football team is for real. Ryan, Connor and India all give their though

  • Trojans kick off Big Ten play with a road contest at Purdue

    10/09/2025 Duración: 01h21min

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") and intern India Otto are back to talk about USC's resounding victory over Georgia Southern Saturday in the Coliseum and the upcoming road matchup with Purdue. The 2-0 Trojans have outscored their opponents by a combined 99 points, but the schedule gets harder with Big Ten play kicking off and the first game away from the friendly confines of the Coliseum on deck. The crew doesn't spend much time on the Clay Helton Bowl, but they give some quick thoughts on how the Trojan passing offense shined and the USC defense faced some challenges against the Eagles. With the team winning by 39 points and coming out of the contest healthy, head coach Lincoln Riley couldn't ask for a much better start to the season heading into the conference slate. The "preseason" is now in the rearview mirror and USC will try to win its first game outside of the Pacific time zone since winning at Colorado in 2023. After winning just

  • Helium Boys Podcast: USC rolls in Clay Helton Bowl, Purdue road test and Amelia Earhart

    09/09/2025 Duración: 02h12min

The USC 2025 football season is well underway after a Week 2 win over Georgia Southern in the Clay Helton Bowl. Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino were both on the sidelines from the Coliseum for a front-row seat to USC's 59-20 win over the Eagles.  Trevino and Spratling dive into their 'Two-Minute Drill' with the former taking time to talk about the emotions of seeing Helton once again in the Coliseum while Spratling takes the time to show some extra love for senior defensive end Anthony Lucas recording the first two sacks of his career.  The Helium Boys dive into their Stock Up, Stock Down segment, which includes USC's offensive line, the running back room, the duo of Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane and the Trojans' early sack production.  The Helium Boys then dive into the second half of the show to preview Purdue, which represent USC's Big Ten opener and first road game of the season. This is a reunion game for a multitude of reasons: USC starting QB Jayden Maiava played under Odom at UNLV in 2023, guidi

  • Coach Harvey Hyde shares his thoughts on USC's blowout win over Georgia Southern

    08/09/2025 Duración: 58min

On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking USC's second-straight blowout victory at home to start the 2025 college football season, a 59-20 beatdown of Georgia Southern led by former Trojan head coach Clay Helton. Coach Hyde talks about the Trojan offense that pretty much did whatever it wanted, with huge plays in the passing game and a running back group led by Waymond Jordan that Coach Hyde really thinks can be special. Flipping over to the defensive side, there are more concerns there with the way the Eagles were able to pick up yardage in the run game and put a few scoring drives together against the Trojans. The USC coaching staff was rotating players early, but Coach wants to see they figure out their best lineups so they can be playing at an optimal level in Big Ten play. He would also like to see the linebackers be more of a presence and play in the opponent's backfield more and have the cornerbacks make plays on the ball more and p

  • Tunnel Vision: Breaking down the good and bad from USC's 59-20 victory over Georgia Southern

    08/09/2025 Duración: 01h13min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Shotgun Spratling and intern Riley Sager are back in studio discussing the Trojans 39-point victory over Clay Helton's Georgia Southern Eagles. For the second straight week USC was able to blowout an overmatched opponent, easily covering the massive spreads and allowing backups to come into the game and gain invaluable experience. Following along on USCFootball.com's message board The Peristyle during the game, it was apparent that Trojan fans were expecting perfection against former USC head coach Clay Helton. The Trojans were never in danger of losing the game, were up by multiple touchdowns most of the evening and pretty much did whatever they wanted when they had the ball, but the P was acting like the sky was falling and this team would never win another football game. Ryan, Shotgun and Riley were all in the Coliseum on Saturday and give their thoughts on what impressed them from the Trojans, including a record-setting 755 yards o

  • Tunnel Vision: Previewing Clay Helton's return to the Coliseum as Georgia Southern takes on USC

    05/09/2025 Duración: 01h35min

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Shotgun Spratling, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio to preview the Trojans second game of a season, a matchup with a very familiar face that roamed the Coliseum sidelines for over a decade. The Clay Helton bowl is finally here, with Georgia Southern (0-1) coming to town to take on the Trojans (1-0) as a 28.5-point underdog. Last week USC boat raced an overmatched Missouri State squad, putting up 73 points and winning by 60. Georgia Southern flew all the way to Fresno only to get a second half beatdown by the Bulldogs, giving up 351 rushing yards and losing by 28 points. Even though this is the second-straight week of facing a lower level opponent, the Trojans should be highly motivated to put on a show against Clay Helton's squad. For years USC football fans wanted the administration to move on from Helton, and by the time they made the move and brought in Lincoln Riley the football program was in a bad

  • After taking care of business in week one, Trojans move on to the Helton Bowl

    03/09/2025 Duración: 01h32min

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") and intern India Otto are back to discuss the successful 2025 season opener against Missouri State with the Trojans putting a historic beatdown on the former FCS program 73-13. Now the focus shifts to Georgia Southern, a step-up in the caliber of opponent but still not a true test for a USC football team with higher aspirations than just making a decent bowl. The crew gives a few thoughts on what they took away from the week one victory, focusing mostly on younger Trojans, including true freshman Husan Longstreet, getting an opportunity for early development with significant playing time against live competition. With former USC head coach Clay Helton coming into the Coliseum this weekend, Ryan, Connor and India give their thoughts on what sort of reaction the crowd will have and how this USC football team will respond, knowing that a significant portion of the fanbase is looking for a similar result to l

The season has finally arrived.  Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino are back behind the microphones for another edition of the Helium Boys Podcast to discuss USC's 73-13 beatdown of Missouri State to improve to 1-0 on the year.  Trevino and Spratling dive into their 'Two-Minute Drill' with the latter giving praise to walk-on running back King Miller for his 75-yard TD run, a notable achievement for a walk-on player. Trevino offers some fan shoutouts while also preaching fans should enjoy the win but remember it was a much weaker opponent.  For the first time this season, the Helium Boys dive into their Stock Up, Stock Down segment, which includes safety Bishop Fitzgerald, Jayden Maiava, USC's big plays and much more.  The Helium Boys then dive into the second half of the show to preview Georgia Southern, led by former USC head coach Clay Helton. Georgia Southern is remaining in California for the week leading up to the USC game after heading West to play Fresno State. Helton is 20-20 in his first 40 game
