  • The constantly changing world of NIL with states AGs now suing the NCAA

    31/01/2024 Duración: 01h12min

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio following up on their conversation with USC athletic director Jen Cohen about the Trojans NIL efforts. The guys talk about the current state of NIL for the Trojans and the ever changing landscape Cohen talked about in our interview, with the attorney generals from Virginia and Tennessee now suing the NCAA alleging that their restrictions on high school or NCAA Transfer Portal players receiving compensation from collectives is illegal. The NCAA has attempted to put "guardrails" around NIL compensation and players ability to transfer and every time it does the courts have got involved. This latest lawsuit would allow schools to use NIL as an inducement for recruits and transfers, a practice currently not allowed according to the NCAA. USC is one of the programs that has followed all of the NCAA rules when it comes to NIL compensation being used as an inducement in the recruiting process. I

The USC Triple-Double Podcast returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the Women of Troy's home split against the Washington schools where the Trojans looked good for a half, terrible for two halves, good for a quarter and then not good enough for a final quarter. They also look at USC men's basketball's trying to break free from a five-game losing streak. The Women of Troy remain slid four spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press top 25 poll after their loss to Washington. It is the lowest ranking for the Trojans since the first in-season poll was released. The struggles for the men's team continued as the Trojans lost the first iteration of the Crosstown Showdown to a UCLA team that has had similar woes as USC but seems to be improving as the stretch run of the season nears. Shotgun and Connor break down all the latest action for both teams, including looking closely at JuJu Watkins' shooting and efficiency, discussing the possibility of Isaiah Coll
