Extraordinary: A Time Such As This - Jeff Mickey
05/07/2020 Duración: 29minOften, when we study people from the Bible, we feel as if we are studying larger-than life figures, people who are not at all like us, people who are extraordinary. Whether or not we recognize it, this can make us feel as if God can’t work through us because our lives are too “ordinary.” But what if God loves to work through ordinary people? What if God’s best work is often done in the quiet of our ordinary days, through ordinary activities, ordinary moments, ordinary relationships? What if the ordinary is actually - in the Kingdom of Jesus - truly extraordinary? We look forward to exploring many of the ordinary people from the pages of Scripture, through whom God did extraordinary things throughout history. We hope this series, (Extra)ordinary, will inspire each and every one of us that no moment is simply ordinary when God is involved! We may be ordinary people, but we worship, and are empowered by, an extraordinary God!

Extraordinary: But He Shouted All The More - Karla Chestnut
14/06/2020 Duración: 28minThe Gospel of Luke highlights Jesus on the road to Jerusalem and the cross. He met all kinds of people along the way. This guy stands out partly because of his audacity in the face of rebuke. Was it desperation or faith? I am going to highlight some of the contrasts in this passage. Be quiet/he shouted all the more - blind/sighted - rebuke and invitation - the crowd and the individual - Jesus of Nazareth vs. Son of David and Lord - those who led the way/beggars Look at all the roles we play in this story all the way from rebuker and onlooker to the blind beggar

Extraordinary: Lydia A Hidden Hero - Brain Steenhoek
07/06/2020 Duración: 30minLydia was successful both in her professional work and in her social or spiritual work nurturing the budding Greek church. Most likely the knowledge and connections she cultivated as a trader helped her in her church work, and vise versa. In Lydia we see a woman whose skill and interest is not confined to one limited area. Indeed, we see that both her position in commerce and her knowledge of faith made her uniquely qualified to spearhead the church in Greece.

Why Did Jesus Have to Die? : Passover - Jeff Mickey
05/04/2020 Duración: 30minAccording to the Apostle Paul the cross lies at the very heart of the Christian faith. In the letter to the church at Galatia, Paul wrote: “God forbid that I should boast of anything but the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 6:14) The cross is the centerpiece. But why? Have you ever wondered that? Why did Jesus have to die? And why did Jesus have to die on a cross? Why did Jesus have to die in such a cruel and inhumane way? Why did Jesus have to die the death of a common criminal? Thankfully, God does not leave us without answers. The biblical writers use multiple metaphors, pictures and images to help us glimpse the majestic power at work on the cross. Why did Jesus have to die? The answer is ... bigger than we have been told. … more beautiful than we can comprehend. … better than mere words can describe. Join us during the 4 weeks before Easter as we explore this important question together.
