To follow someone implies that there is a leader, and the followers do things like their leader. Jesus said you will be able to recognize my followers by the way they love one another. Have you ever heard someone at Orchard say, “Everyone’s welcome?” Does the church really mean it? And what exactly does that look like in practice? Or, how about, “pick up your paddle?” That’s kinda weird, especially if you’re somewhat new to the church. However, the reference is decades old and refers to a metaphor of the church as a whitewater raft and the need to have everyone in the raft working together, serving in order to navigate the turbulent water. Come find out what rafting and welcoming have to do with accomplishing the mission God has given our church. What kinds of things might we include - or not include - in our lives in order to stay close to God? How do we rearrange our lives so that we can grow spiritually? What is the goal of spiritual growth? Practically, in the midst of our very full lives, how do we make room for the things that deeply connect us to God? Our hope is that as our teachers pull back the curtain on our lives, we will encourage you to continue to engage in certain actions that help you grow.
