    Teresa and Aidrienne Finnerty who came in to tell us all about Adrienne's charity work for Lesotho ACARA build project. Aidrienne went to Lesotho in 2008 as part of a group of 60 and built a "Safe House" and she is now set to return to build classrooms, a playground and paint the "Safe House"...............................thanks also to Sinead and Teresa from North Louth Hospice who kindly came in to tell us all about their "Coffee Morning" they had planned to raise much needed funds for the North Louth Hospice who are totally dependant on voluntary contributions from the public, as they do not receive any government funding.

    The Enda McGuill Suite in Oriel Park was the venue for the launch of Sports Radio for Peace on 24th August. Representatives from soccer, gaelic, ice hockey and athletics attended and took part in a lively discussion hosted by Dundalk FM's Michael Duffy. The first in the series of 10 programmes was broadcast on Saturday 4th September at 2pm.

    ............Garda Paul Burke - Community Garda Slot, who came in looking for some assistance from the public on some of the investigations being carried out by the Gardai here in Dundalk...............thanks also to our favourite Chef "Karl Moore" - Karl's Kitchen Flavours, who came in to talk about cooking on a budget and Karl also cooked up a lovely Salmon Stir Fry in studio for just €3.00 with ingredients that where kindly donated by Dunnes Stores, Marshes Shopping Centre Dundalk.

    Tom Laramie who came in to tell us all about Friday Night Live in Ravensdale Community Centre which will run for 7 weeks starting on 17th Sept. Its a locally produced variety show, and they are looking for young and old to come and show their talents................Eamonn O Boyle - who spoke to us over the phone about the second round offers for college places and also what options are open to students...................... Thanks also to Brigitte Nelson - Secretary Wellington Hall Project, who came in to tell us all about the new restoration plans for Wellington Hall in St Marys Road which was built way back in 1812. Their is a launch night for the Wellington Hall Project on Friday 3rd September 2010 at 7.00pm in the hall.

  • Taaffes Medieval Castle Carlingford - part 1

    Eileen Corcoran from Dundalk FM visited a family who entered Taaffes Castle in medieval Carlingford for a week to live exactly as they did during the period of King John in 1210 The family can be seen foraging for their food, cooking their meals, playing medieval games, milking goats and tending to their animals throughout the entire week. The general public were also invited to visit the diminutive medieval village to the fore of the castle where trades from the period will be demonstrated including candlemaking, butter churning and the building of an original Irish Curragh which will be constructed on site over the 7 days.

    Taking part in the programme were Claire Cooney and Shane Brennan, Knockbridge Primary School - Knockbridge Townlands; Geraldine McCullough, Manager - history of the pond, the committee, cross border connections with the Belfast Burns Society; Shane McCollum - 40km sponsored hike and cycle on the Táin route around Carlingford, raven crafts and his work at Stephenstown Pond; Rachel McGuire and Ciara Byrne; Michelle Maguire Events Coordinator, Dairymaid Coffee Shop and Saorise and Chloe. Music in the programme includes ‘Farewell to Carlingford’ by Henry Mac, Roddy McCollum and Shane McCollum recorded live at Dundalk FM; ‘The Gay Gordons’ recorded at the Agnes Burns Night November 5 2009; ‘Irish Harvest Day’ by John Blair, ‘Go Lassie Go’ by Kevin Sheilds and Roddy McCollum The Production team were Peter Carroll and Louí Byrne. The presenters were Eileen Corcoran and Alan Byrne with Michael Nulty in Studio.
