Overview - Why The Master Paid The Temple Tax. Matthew chapter 17 verses 24-27. There was a dispute brought to Peter about why Jesus does not pay the temple tax. Peter comes to Jesus and is about to ask Him about it, but Jesus answers Peter before He asks. Jesus ends up paying the temple tax after He had not done so. But why? Very important message for any Christian, because Jesus ends up paying this tax, even though He did not have to. In my message today, I discuss a difficult Christian principle that Jesus demonstrated for us in this situation. Overview - The Atonement. Matthew chapter 17:5-8. The Lord showed me while I was in prayer the week of this message, that there was a powerful parallel in the interaction between God, the disciples, and Jesus Christ, on the mount of transfiguration, and the atonement of Jesus Christ for mankind. So I first explain how I saw this parallel. Next, I then felt the Lord wanted me to give a sermon solely on the details of the atonement of Jesus Christ, so that people could understand it. Overview - Must Elijah come first. Matthew chapter 17 verses 6-13. We opened up our sermon today talking about the love that Christ brought, verses the powerful and sometimes scary voice of God which spoke from the cloud, that the disciples feared. Jesus Christ was indeed the embodiment of the Love of God to mankind. We then looked at the statement by the disciples to Jesus, about the fact that Elijah was supposed to come before Him. Yet Elijah had not come before Christ. Is Jesus really the Jewish promised Messiah? Why didn't Elijah come before Jesus did if Jesus was the Christ? Overview: (Matthew 16:21-23) In our sermon today we looked into Peter’s rebuke of Jesus Christ after Jesus had told His disciples of His fate in Jerusalem of, torture, death and His resurrection, and Jesus’s response to Peter for his comments. How dare Peter rebuke Jesus Christ? Jesus was God, and knew the future. Peter had no right to rebuke Jesus, right? The religious leaders attacked Him and tested Him asking Him for a sign, although they knew that He was the Messiah. Why did they do this? Overview: (Matthew 15:29-31) In our message today we focused on how Jesus Christ embodied 2 Timothy 4:2, preach the Word, be ready in season and out of season. Especially the second half of this verse. Christ had His heart set on some well deserved rest, a couple of different times in our consecutive sections of scripture (being out of season, or not ready to preach the Word) but people kept coming to Him requesting miracles. And His response, totally embodied 2 Timothy 4:2. He lovingly and sacrificially set down His own needs, and served the people even though He was trying to be off the radar, or away from the multitudes. Overview: (Matthew 15:21-28) In our message today we studied the meeting of the gentile woman that came to Christ in the land of Tyre and Sidon asking Him to heal her daughter who was demon possessed. She came to Jesus asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter, but Jesus was not in a hurry to grant her, this request. He did eventually grant her, this healing, but why? We can learn a lot from the interaction between this woman and Christ for your life today. Overview: (Matthew 15:10-20) Jesus Christ hits the religious leaders right between the eyes and makes them angry, in today's message, by telling them and the masses of people He had called together the truth that the religious leaders religion and religious traditions were wrong. The religious leaders of Jesus' day thought they were made righteous in Gods eyes by their religion and their religious traditions, but Jesus gives them the bad news that no food a person eats or any special way they wash their hands will cause a person to be unholy in Gods eyes. Overview: (Matthew 15:1-9) In our message today, we spent an extensive amount of time, speaking about how good and exciting the message of the resurrection of Christ really is. The fact that the grave couldn't hold Him, and that He was able to defeat sin and death is awesome. He of course did this so that He could give this same gift to anyone that would come to Him. Praise Jesus, all His saints. Hallelujah! With the news of the resurrection of Christ being that great, why would anyone want to change it? It doesn't seem possible that anyone would want to change or alter this great news (outside of satan), but believe it or not, there is a very unlikely group that has been successful at changing and altering this great news.
