I confess, I read this book in one sitting. It's amazing how the things you need to hear arrive at your doorstep in one way or another. If you like adventure, if you want to feel like you are sitting down with a good friend, whose openness and willingness to share his failures as much as his success', while the whole time putting you at ease then this is a great read for you. If you are on any kind of journey, then there is probably one that Bear has been on in his life that you can resonate with. St. Gallen Mafia, Exposing the secret reformist Group within the Church There is a somewhat obscure 8th century Irish Catholic Saint named Saint Gall who during the course of his life founded an Abby and Monastery in Switzerland, in a town now called St. Gallen which today is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is said that near the end of his life, a bear became St. Gall’s only friend. The bear, it is said, brought him wood for his fire.  To this day, the Abbey still stands in the town of St. Gallen Switzerland.The image of a bear is on its Coat of arms. St. Gallen Mafia, Exposing the secret reformist Group within the Church,  is the title of an intriguing, challenging and thought provoking book by Julia Meloni. She meticulously pieces together documented events and writings, surrounding power struggles within the Roman Catholic Church leading up too, and after the death of Saint Pope John Paul the second.  For a non Catholic it reads like a factual thriller and for the Catholic the book could feel more dire an

Today we Explore BioSpiritual Focusing.  The founders of Biospiritual Focusing are Peter Campbell and Edwin McMahon. These men had been trained in the spiritual tradition of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits.  With this common background they could appreciate the evolutionary spirituality of the two Jesuits, French Theologian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and German Karl Rahner, considered to be one of the most influential theologians of the 20th century.  Focusing, in itself, is inherently a body practice and this was not lost on the men who started BioSpiritual Focusing. It is the human body which provides our most grounded spiritual link, both to the details of daily living as well as the mystery of an evolving universe.  Our body, which we so identify with mortality, is itself our conscious bridge into immortality! It is our precious “link” to the universe as a whole–and beyond!

The 14th century writer THOMAS À KEMPIS may be best known for his most famous work, The Imitation of Christ, but now a new volume by TAN books they have uncovered an important work simply titled Humility, and the elevation of the mind to God.  My guest today is Fr. Robert Nixon, OSB a Catholic priest, and a monk of the Benedictine Abbey of the Most Holy Trinity, in New Norcia, Western Australia.  Father Nixon   has translated these works, making them available for the first time in the English Language.
