Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Should I buy a NEW car or an old truck? Old trucks (and cars) are simple, analog, easy to work on and troubleshoot. New cars are full of crap like “Body Control Modules” and “Anti-lock brake controllers” Shit that cost a ton of money to do something that is mostly un-needed. I'm toying with the idea of getting a Classic daily-driver from the 60's or 70's. For the most part, I don't drive a lot. If I buy an old truck, in 10 years, I will still have an “old truck”. Might even be worth more than I pay for it or not, but it won't be 10's of thousands of dollars less because it's a new-fangled car that looses money by the second.

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Recorded in Columbus Ohio after an Adventure in Flying in the winter. I spent 24+ hours at Detroit airport due to weather. It was an experiment in flying to the office in Columbus instead of driving. Result: Driving 6.5 hours. Flying 28 hours. PLUS if the weather sucks while driving I can always pull over. OR not go. Flying, you are kind of stuck. The lesson, DRIVE. Posting this just before heading to the airport to head home. Hopefully, I will get home more or less on time.

I took Percy (the Beagle) down to Big Rapids for a home visit of a perspective beagle adopter for the MidWest Brew ( gotbeagles.org ) rescue. I talk about my car search. Getting ready to buy a new (to me) truck of some sort. No hurry, but soon.

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn I had a bit of nostalgia today driving around town in Traverse City and the Cherryland Mall (now called Cherryland Center and nearly empty). It's amazing the things you remember about things so long ago. Also, I talk about some nostalgia about podcasting. When it was a hobby and a form of therapy for a lot of people. I'm sure it still is for some, but sometimes I see the all the business end of it.

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Happy Birthday to my sister Angie! Was a HOT weekend in TC.  The Air Show weekend was good, just a quick before-work update.    

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn I got a new toy in the studio.  A Denon DN-300R digital recorder deck.  Now I can record WITHOUT the computer in the studio. Also, I updated our renovation projects and other things going on in Traverse City.    

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn I thought I lost my portable recorder,  Then found it and thought I broke it and now it works.  Go figure  Just a quick update from Northern Michigan.

I used to listen to a lot of them, but I sort of think this may be a dying art form. Let me know mike@mikedell.com Recording today was done with a Logitech Headset mic I got while I was in Ohio.  It's not the best, but I'm sure not the worst way to record a podcast    

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn I've been addicted Tobacco in various forms for the last (wow! long time) years…  I am finally going tobacco free totally starting in a few days.   Wish me luck! I'm having some dental work done and after my appointment on Tuesday, I am going to quit all together.  Along with losing weight it's going to be hard, but I think it's time! Again, wish me luck! Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Had my own personal tech bubble burst.  Ended up with a new iPhone 8+, A new Router (the old one was 11 years old!) and just now found out my compressor/Limiter/Gate is 1/2 dead.    Oh well. I moved the studio back down to the Office in the basement and recorded this using the PR40 mic instead of the headset I've been using for a while.  Let me know what you think of the sound.  

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Well, I made it!  300 episodes.  I was a bit under the weather so I didn't do the episode on New Years.  I was sleeping trying to get rid of a cold or blowing and shoveling snow. I'm not going to write a lot of show notes for this one.   Just listen to it for a few surprises.  Here is to another 300!
