We all, at the basic level, want to rule something. However, trying to rule without relationship with God, we rule terribly. Sometimes, we as parents make promises that are conditional like “if you clean your room, we can go get chicken nuggets at McDonalds”, which bases the promise upon the child’s behavior instead of our character. But God does not do that in the New Covenant. He keeps His promise because of His character, in spite of our behavior.
