Nehemiah trusted in the God who would fight for them, but also fought for the God in whom they trusted by strengthening the walls where they were most vulnerable, arming the people to fight for each other, and never giving up despite ridicule and persecution.

This week's sermon focuses on the way the Israelites joined in the work of rebuilding the wall. Each one did his or her part to complete the work that needed to be done. Similarly, God has given each Christian a unique task to bring glory to Him.

Nehemiah starts his prayer by acknowledging who God is, and then confesses his sin and the sins of the people. He pleads with God and offers his request based on the word of God. Pastor Andy encourages that we also start our prayers acknowledging who God is. But we will never know the characteristics of God if we do not know the word of God.
