  • The Real Spirit Of Hallowe'en

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

The “Day of the Dead” is looming, with all the macabre symbolism of the season. I usually enjoy my daily walk through my residential neighborhood, but in the past few days the scene has changed as giant spiderwebs and partially buried skeletons appear on manicured lawns. Leering skulls with lighted eye sockets peer from simulated graveyards, and a variety of monsters in various stages of decay, some with creepy sound effects, set the tone for the October 31 celebration of “Hallowe’en.” Read the full commentary at https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-real-spirit-of-halloween

  • Nothing "Hallowed" About Halloween

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

The word “hallowed” means made holy or consecrated. There is nothing hallowed in the celebration of Halloween. Read the full commentary at https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/nothing-hallowed-about-halloween

  • Remember Your Creator

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

One of the great tragedies of our age is the increase of Alzheimer’s disease, a malevolent condition that robs people, usually the elderly, of their memories and personality, as they slide away into mental darkness. Many have experienced this, and many families have faced the horrific consequences of memory loss and disability that come upon their loved ones. • The 25 Percent

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

In 1951, a psychologist by the name of Solomon Asch conducted a rather unnerving experiment. He had a group of eight people look at four drawn lines—three “comparison” lines and one “target” line. Each member of the group had to say, out loud, which of the comparison lines they thought matched the target one in length, and this was repeated with eighteen sets of lines. It wasn’t hard; the right answers were intended to be completely obvious. Read the full commentary - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/the-25-percent

  • Open My Eyes

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

Has someone ever “opened your eyes” to some surprising information you were completely unaware of, or something someone had deceived you about? Or, perhaps, they challenged some long-held belief you had that proved to be incorrect. Maybe you have tried to wake up someone else to the truth about a matter. • Thinking Biblically About Entertainment

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

One of the most important principles that anyone aspiring to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ can apply is to think biblically about any given topic—to keep our brains turned on and “tuned in” to what the Bible has to say. And one very important area of life where this principle can be applied is in regards to entertainment. • Be Anxious For Nothing

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

There are so many things happening today that may fill us with anxiety, including the economy, crime and violence, drugs, war, terrorism, moral decline, pandemics, ineffective government, political and societal divisions, supply chain issues, food and border insecurity, climate change, and other threats to our safety and welfare. What does the Bible teach about how to handle anxiety? Read the full commentary here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/be-anxious-for-nothing

  • Choose Your Fears

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

While economic issues dominate the attention of most people, global issues continue to loom large, causing concern about the future of the United States and its role as the leader of the free world. Full Commentary -https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/choose-your-fears

  • Remember—Don't Forget

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

Like many of my older-generation peers, my memory isn’t what it used to be, and it never was my particular strong suit. Many people have difficulty remembering things, but there are certain things that we simply must remember—things far too important to forget. • Climate Change: A Misplaced Agenda?

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

In a quiet moment, as you consider the impact of the major issues that fill the news cycle, do you ever wonder how things will turn out? The hotly contested subject of climate change dominates the news and is on the political agenda of countries around the world. In the spirit of contemplation, fast forward in your thoughts to an evening in 2035 AD and consider the consequences to you, personally, if proposed remedies to climate changes are implemented (cue the blurry, wavy lines and spooky harp music as the scene changes): Full Commentary - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/climate-change-a-misdirected-agenda

  • What Is Wrong with the Book of Enoch

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

The Book of Enoch has gained popularity in recent years, as indicated by a large variety of recent YouTube videos sporting millions of views. It was also a source of inspiration for parts of Darren Aronofsky’s 2014 film Noah. (You can read our blunt review of that film here.) With a recent increase in the popularity of the Book of Enoch, and its alleged quote in the New Testament, let’s take a brief look at this mysterious book. Is it really an authentic biblical source? • To Be Or Not to Be Fulfilled

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

To be or not to be fulfilled—that is the question regarding whether or not Bible prophecies have been fulfilled or are yet to be fulfilled. It is a fair question, to be sure, despite my apologies to William Shakespeare for appropriating from his play “Hamlet” the famous soliloquy spoken by Prince Hamlet. • Keep An Eye On This Important American Statistic

    10/11/2022 Duración: 06min

Recently, while driving through a mid-sized town, I saw a prominent flagpole flying the American flag—a flag that, as an American, myself, I have always loved and have been very thankful to call “my flag.” On that same flagpole, a little farther down, was another flag blowing in the wind—the “LGBT pride” flag. This is a common sight today, as many institutions of government, business, sports, and entertainment champion the LGBT movement. (As a reminder, “LGBT” stands for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender,” and often even more letters are added.) This movement and its support indicate where the United States stands morally, acting almost as a type of moral gauge. • Who Do You Imitate?

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

One way we learn is by imitating someone. Children, especially, are imitators. But adults also learn by imitating others, particularly those they admire. Who do you imitate? Read the full commentary here - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/who-do-you-imitate

  • A Sharp Axe

    10/11/2022 Duración: 03min

When I was a Boy Scout, many years ago, going to Summer Camp was a great adventure. Living in a tent with other boys, hiking forest trails, and learning new skills were memorable experiences. One class that was useful then—and which I still find useful today—was how to safely handle a hatchet or small axe. These hand tools are essential in camping and being a woodsman. Our counselor showed us how to sharpen the cutting edge of the axe, explaining that a sharp tool is much more useful—and safer—than a dull one. All craftsmen, artisans, and others who use cutting tools will attest to this fact. They spend quality time sharpening and maintaining the cutting edges on their tools. • What You Think You Heard

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

Having endured several long (and ongoing) political battles here in the United States in the wake of acrimonious and divisive national elections, with political opponents still attacking each other in speeches and ad campaigns, we could all do with a more gracious kind of talk. • The Origin And Future Of Suffering

    10/11/2022 Duración: 05min

War. Terrorism. Kidnappings and killings. Disease epidemics and even pandemics. Drug epidemics. Increasing atrocities around the world cause more and more people to ask, why suffering? Why would a loving God allow kidnapping, rape, torture, murder, and war? Why would He allow death and damage from earthquakes, tsunamis, and other weather disasters? Why the ravages of disease? How could He allow millions to starve? People have long struggled to explain the reasons for human suffering. But the Bible clearly explains both the origin and the future of suffering. • No Black Belt for Me

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

My son and I study a Korean form of martial arts called Tang Soo Do. In most martial arts, the highest achievement is the black belt. The student begins with a white belt, and over the course of years, students move up through the color levels until they reach black belt status. A couple of months ago, we had the privilege of attending a black belt ceremony where we observed some of our classmates receive their reward for years of practice and hard work. At the ceremony, an interesting experience presented itself. Full Commentary - https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/no-black-belt-for-me

  • "Losing" To Win

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

Winning is achieving victory, but losing is failing to achieve victory. Sometimes, in order to win, we must first lose. Full commentary https://www.tomorrowsworld.org/commentary/losing-to-win

  • Find The Joy

    10/11/2022 Duración: 04min

As once I followed up with an old friend who had been wrestling, with some success, a serious health problem, a sudden update on his condition was devastating. What had seemed to be a good course of treatment proved to be less effective than expected. The condition had worsened, and the prognosis was not good.
