    In this Dharma talk, Rinsen Sensei uses Tosotsu’s Three Barriers (Gateless Gate case #47) as a tool to examine the way we navigate our Buddhist practice.  Rinsen emphasizes that we don’t have to have a logical understanding of the entire process for it to do its work.   Often, we interrupt our own practice by insisting that we have more mental candy.  In the Dharma we are invited to let go of the mental candy.  Learn to sit and trust the sitting.  Allow for time to digest and integrate.

    The Buddhist Temple of Toledo presents a talk and discussion lead by the Reverend Jay Rinsen Weik during a Jukai Sesshin in August of 2016. Reverend Rinsen begins with Case 23 of the Gateless Gate, "Huineng's Neither Good Nor Evil", and expands on the story of the 6th ancestor in the Zen lineage.   Huineng's transmission was not well received by his fellow monks.  A monk named Ming chased the 6th Ancestor across the countryside, leading to a famous encounter that points towards the nature of attachment and the relationship between the Dharma and the Robe of the Buddha.  What is most important in this practice?
