#43 - Desperately Seeking Susan
07/06/2020 Duración: 01h19minDan and Raul are back with a new episode in their Essential 80's film series, and this one takes us back to 1985 for one of the first films Madonna appeared in. The film isn't great, but both the guys respect the movie for what it set forth to accomplish in terms of dealing with conventional movie tropes in a fresh way. DTW is glad to have tackled this movie and it's worth seeing, but for modern audiences it feels a little dated. Hoping to do more 80's films soon! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#42 - Space Force
01/06/2020 Duración: 01h16minDan and Raul are joined once again by Hannah, and we all watched a different number of episodes so listen ahead to see what each was willing/able to binge! For the most part the show is a disappointment, but we delve into why that is and how it failed to follow thru on a great idea for a TV show. There is some really fun stuff to cover still, with great performers and a wonderfully deep cast, listen ahead for this fun episode! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#41 - June 2020 TV Premieres
25/05/2020 Duración: 01h08minDan and Raul scroll thru a bunch of TV shows premiering in the coming month, and there is quite a bit to look forward to including a bunch of new HBO shows, such as the documentary series "I'll Be Gone In The Dark", the period drama "Perry Mason", and the British-based show "I May Destroy You". Netflix has Harlan Corben's The Woods premiering as well, and the Spanish language Amazon Prime show, "El Presidente". Listen to the fun and then go watch some new stuff! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#40 - Quibi
17/05/2020 Duración: 01h11minDan and Raul review the streaming platform, Quibi, that provides content in small chunks with no video longer then 10 minutes. They go over a bunch of new shows that have come out on the service since it premiered, which includes comedy shows as well as shows that are like movies broken up into smaller films and run for 10-15 short episodes. Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#39 - House Party
11/05/2020 Duración: 01h33minDan and Raul are once again joined by Jonnie, and this time to discuss the 90's classic, House Party. We delve into the different social and economical ideas the film presents, as well as the uniqueness of this somewhat simple story. Kid 'N Play's other works are discussed as well, as some of us are more acquainted with their later projects that came as a result of the success of this film. Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

03/05/2020 Duración: 01h21minRaul and Dan are once again joined by Jonnie to discuss the 1994 basketball film, Blue Chips, starring Shaq and Nick Nolte. We are all basketball fans so the discussion delves into other issues within the NCAA universe and other favorite basketball movies. Raul also opens the show discussing the Parks and Recreation reunion special that recently aired. Start your own phone-tree! Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#36 - Pandemic Lockdown, Part 3
19/04/2020 Duración: 01h07minThe guys are back during "lockdown" to go over a bunch of stuff that they are watching/playing currently. Weirdly, basketball came up as the new Michael Jordan documentary, The Last Dance, is set to come out. Then some upcoming shows are discussed as well as the, Together At Home, fundraiser concert (which, was NOT good!). Dan talks about the new Amazon show, ZeroZeroZero, as well as the films Monos (on Hulu currently) and The Arbor (an experimental documentary, voted on many critic's lists as a top 10 film of the decade). Finally, Raul discusses a new game he is playing called, Ape Out, which seems really simple, creative and fun! Get into it! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#35 - Pandemic Lockdown, Part 2
12/04/2020 Duración: 01h35minRaul and Dan continue where they left off last episode, discussing how they are passing the time with the current health crisis in full effect. A few books are discussed as well as more of Dan's weekly TV schedule, and more on all the shows they are watching. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#34 - Pandemic Lockdown, Part 1
05/04/2020 Duración: 01h18minWe make our epic return and its under crazy circumstances. With the pandemic in full swing, we convene from the safety of our individual homes to broadcast an update of what we each have been watching and doing while locked inside. We also cover some upcoming shows that are coming out in April that we are interested in watching. Pandemic be damned, we always will be Down To Watch! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#33 Bad Boys For Life
28/01/2020 Duración: 01h21minDan is joined by guest-host and good friend Jonnie (OG former co-host on DTW since episode 1!), as well as a few new guests/friends, James and Natalia. Listen as these ol' chums discuss all things Bad Boys including references to all movies in the franchise. Per usual, as any discussion does (you know you listen for the tangents!), the convo veers far and wide into many topics, so listen ahead to see what we thought of the new film! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
-
#32 - The Witcher (episode 1)
13/01/2020 Duración: 54minHere's the thing; Dan was very skeptical about this show from jump, but Raul wanted to give it a chance as he is somewhat more into the fantasy genre then Dan but still not really into. Needless to say, we didn't really enjoy The Witcher (streaming now on Netflix), and Dan for sure won't keep watching but Raul may give it a few more episodes. Tangent's aplenty in this offering, and most of the time that's the funnest part! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#31 - Undone (episode 1 & 2)
07/01/2020 Duración: 51minDan and Raul watched the first few episodes of this new Amazon-original series that they had heard really positive things about and were curious to see if it lived up to the hype. The show is animated in a very unique manner called rotoscoping, where everything is filmed like a normal live-action show or movie but then is painted over to look animated, and Undone utilizes this decision in a great way! A very unique TV series that we highly recommend, but listen ahead to learn why this is the case! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#30 - Living With Yourself (season 1)
30/12/2019 Duración: 01h40minIt's the last episode of the decade! Dan and Raul are once again joined by special-guest Hannah to discuss new shows that will premiere in January of the new year, and then discuss the new Netflix show, Living With Yourself, starring Paul Rudd in dual roles as the same person, what's not to like?! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
-
#29 - Servant (episode 1)
22/12/2019 Duración: 53minDan and Raul discuss the new show, Servant, from brand new platform, AppleTV+. Discussed also are some of the new shows on the streaming service, but we decided this new series was the most interesting one to cover. We also thought that it was created/directed/written by M. Night Shyamalan, but this is NOT the case, and in fact he only is an executive producer and director of two of the seasons episodes. This still is a very important role as the first director of many new series sets the visual tone for a new show, so we can appreciate his involvement none the less. Listen ahead to see if we decide on whether to continue watching! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
-
#28 - His Dark Materials (episode 1)
15/12/2019 Duración: 52minDan and Raul dive into this new HBO fantasy-adventure show, and both guys aren't the biggest fans of the genre so they weren't expecting to like this, but listen ahead to see where they land on daemon's, Dust, and scholastic sanctuary?! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
-
#27 - The Mandalorian (Season 1, Episode 1)
01/12/2019 Duración: 55minDan and Raul delve into the first live-action Star Wars TV series that just premiered recently on the new Disney+ streaming service. We actually covered parts of the first 3 episodes so you can get a flavor of how this show morphs and gets better episode by episode, and DTW should be back in 2020 with a full season discussion on this show. Also, we cover some TV shows we are interested in that are premiering in December 2019. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtopod/message

#26 - Watchmen (episode 1)
25/11/2019 Duración: 01h19minDan and Raul have both read the original source material on which this show is based, so there is much setup and background info to get thru before delving into this really great/wonderful/ambitious series that nobody thought possible or saw coming into the world. The show looks amazing but also discussing many issues related to our world today, even if the show takes place in an alternate reality 2019. So, who should be "Watching the Watchmen"?...All of you! It's raining squid outside, so get indoors and binge the hell out of this amazing show! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
-
#25 - Night of the Living Dead / The Return of the Living Dead
28/10/2019 Duración: 01h25minFor Halloween Week the guys decide to go back and cover 2 of the early "dead" films, although they aren't exactly as connected as would be assumed! "Night" started it all over 50 years ago, but in the 80's "Return" brought zombies back but from a different and more comedic level as the rules were changed as far as how the dead operate and function. The witching hour is upon us, luckily for you this episode is scary good! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message

#24 - Between Two Ferns: The Movie
21/10/2019 Duración: 01h12minDan and Raul delve into this straight-to-Netflix film based on the popular Funny or Die web-series, and luckily they have some knowledge on the creative team behind it as well. One would not expect a film based on a faux-talk show on the internet to be appealing, but luckily this movie was really well thought out and comes thru with great ideas, and utilizes the essence of the original interview show and it's celebrity counterparts to create something very funny and refreshing! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/downtocast/message
