  • Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 144 - Uncanny X-Men #287 (1992)

    13/10/2019 Duración: 01h23min

Greetings, fellow mutants! In this episode, time-displaced soothsayers Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) look at one of the longest-running (and now, solved) X-Mysteries when they read Uncanny X-Men #287 by Jim Lee, Scott Lobdell, and John Romita Jr., beginning the "X-Traitor" story line that ran for several years! After explaining the unusual conditions of the X-Men editorial office at the time, and providing biographical information on the key creators involved, our mutant mavericks read every page of the issue at hand. Then, they delve even further into "X-Traitor," reading some fan mail and commentary from pertinent Marvel Comics staff members, and even following the mystery to its stunning conclusion! It's time-traveling fun, you don't want to miss it! weirdcomcshistory@gmail.com @cosmictmill chrisandreggie.com chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 40: X-Men (vol.2) #8 (1992)

    11/10/2019 Duración: 45min

Hello Fellow Hunters! This time out, I reminisce over my first-ever comics "white whale" as I discuss X-Men (vol.2) #8!  Before hopping into the issue proper, we talk about where I started as a fan of the X-Men family of titles, how different the comic collector's journey looked for a kid growing up in the early-1990's, and how a love of lore turned into a life-long relationship with this particular franchise!  Also, looking for Betamax tapes in Satanic Bookstores?  Trust me, it all fits... sorta. ***Formerly listed on this channel as ReMarvel, Episode 2*** -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com charltonhero.wordpress.com/

    09/10/2019 Duración: 33min

Hey everyone! Continuing our look at collecting and collectors, Reggie (@reggiereggie) interviews his partner in podcasting and comic book collector Chris Sheehan! We look at how he got into collecting comics, and some of his own rules when it comes to the hobby. Plus: Reggie talks about the ancillary things one can accrue when they begin collecting. We hope you enjoy it! chrisandreggie.com

  • Morituri Mondays, Episode 3 - Strikeforce: Morituri #3 (2/87)

    07/10/2019 Duración: 01h36min

Happy Monday... soon to be your favorite day of the week!  Okay, maybe not... but, never fear... Morituri Monday is here to help you muddle through! This week, the Chrises (@acecomics @Charlton_Hero) join the fledgling Strikeforce on their first actual mission!  Lemme tell ya, they're not failing to protect a chocolate factory this time around!  Our team is sent into the Soviet Union (which was apparently still a thing that existed in the not-so-far-flung future of Marvel Earth-1287!) to go head on with the Horde... and make a few discoveries about just how gruesome and cruel the alien invaders could be! Also: Some assorted chatter about our early mp3 Players/digital devices, hotel amenities, the "heelish" portrayal of Soviets during the 1980s, plus YOUR FEEDBACK! -- Your February, 1987 Strikeforce: Morituri Roster - Vyking, Snapdragon, Radian, Adept, Blackthorn, Marathon -- Things mentioned during the program: Protect and Survive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6U9T3R3EQg -- weirdcomicshistory@gma

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 31: Ghost World - A Tale of Two Enids

    06/10/2019 Duración: 41min

"And now for something completely different..." Today I bring to you a discussion regarding adaptations between comics and film, and read from a piece I had written for a Humanities class nearing on a decade ago (consider this my preemptive apology).  We will be addressing Pascal Lefevre's "Four Main Problems in the Adaptation of Comics into Film" from his essay, Incompatible Visual Ontologies? which appeared in Film and Comic Books (University Press of Mississippi, 2007).  Here we will examine the portrayals of the cast of Daniel Clowes' Ghost World (Enid in particular), both in comic book and film.  Think inch-deep, mile-wide... it wasn't too long a paper. If you are unfamiliar with Ghost World, much of this will likely make very little sense.  This episode does not include a synopsis of either the film or the comic... though, Enid and Company will likely be taking a trip on a certain Treadmill in the not-too-distant future. We also talk about some problems that may arise when you sign up for a class who

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 39: Omega the Unknown #1 (1976)

    04/10/2019 Duración: 55min

Long before I was a coffee cup with the DC Bullet logo on it, I (Chris, @acecomics) was a bona fide Marvel Zombie!  That all changed during the mid-2000's, and my fandom only dwindled from there... to the point where I now have zero (count 'em, zero) Marvel Comics on my pull list.  Being an all-or-nothing sort, I kinda let the perceived "Sins of the Sons" be visited upon the "Father", so to speak... and found that I could no longer appreciate anything that ever came out from Marvel.  New, old, whatever... I was no longer able to dig it! I'd like to rectify that... and this program is the first step toward that goal. Join me as I share the story of how I lost my way with Marvel... and the steps I'm looking to take in order to find it again.  We also spend a bunch of time talking about the very odd, sorta discomforting Steve Gerber/Mary Skrenes creation, Omega the Unknown from 1976! ***Formerly listed on this channel as ReMarvel, Episode One*** -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictm

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 30: Legion of Super-Heroes (vol.4) #28 (1992)

    02/10/2019 Duración: 59min

Today Chris (@acecomics) talks about something very near and dear to his... err, no, actually he talks about one of his intentional comic book "blind spots" in the Legion of Super-Heroes.  We also discuss the concept and currency of "information"... why we want it, how we get it... and how not having it might lead to unpleasant and embarrassing situations! Do you have any intentional comic book "blind spots"?  Daunting families of titles you've long ignored rather than digging your heels in and learning about?  Let me know! -- Original Discussion: https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2017/03/legion-of-super-heroes-vol4-28-1992.html -- Musings and Mutterings of an Idiot Scribe: https://jddunsany.wordpress.com/ -- HOT TAKE: Excerpts from the "Amazing Readers" Column in Amazing Heroes #105 (January 1, 1987) -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

  • Morituri Mondays, Episode 2 - Strikeforce: Morituri #2 (1/87)

    30/09/2019 Duración: 42min

Happy Monday, Gang! In this episode, Chris and Chris join our new recruits as they have their new powers forcibly jump-started!  Ya see, it's not enough to have the Morituri Formula in yer veins to make you a hero... you also gotta eventually manifest a useful power!  What better way than to cram 'em all into the pressure cooker known only as "The Garden"? The way things are going, our cadets might not even make it out of Basic Training... and we're left wondering if perhaps, that was the plan all along???   Also: Nonsense!  We discover that Gumby and Pokey did in fact make it to Gum-Dinger Land, and that the United States Mint couldn't make up its mind when it came to stamping out 1982 one-cent coins! Coming next week: Your feedback... and an offuh you might not be able to refuse! -- Your January, 1987 Strikeforce: Morituri Roster -  Vyking, Snapdragon, Radian, Adept, Blackthorne, Marathon -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

    29/09/2019 Duración: 01h21min

Hey everyone! In lieu of a new episode of Cosmic Treadmill, this week Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) are posting a one-time Patreon exclusive: a relaxed, off-the-cuff discussion about Green Lantern! • Reggie's Comics Stories ep. 17 - Collecting the Kid

    25/09/2019 Duración: 35min

Hey everyone! In this, and the next few episodes, Reggie (@reggiereggie) is going to look at collections and collecting. Why do we do it? What are our personal parameters? Will we ever have enough space for the things we want? Hopefully this will be a two-way dialogue, so please engage me on social media or e-mail! weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com @cosmictmill chrisandreggie.com chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

  • Morituri Mondays, Episode 1 - Strikeforce: Morituri #1 (12/86)

    23/09/2019 Duración: 01h14min

You, who are about to listen... We Salute You! Welcome friends to the first title-centric series here at the Chris and Reggie Channel as Chris (@acecomics) and... Chris (@Charlton_Hero) take you on a guided tour of Marvel's Earth-1287, a world with an alien invasion situation, and unfortunately for them, a world without super-heroes... that is, until Dr. Kimmo Tuolema devised the Morituri Process.  A process, under which superpowers could be granted to certain "lucky" folks... but at rather a high-cost.  The individual getting those powers is doomed to burn-out and perish within the next 12 months. In this premiere episode, we meet our initial batch of would-be/might soon-be superheroes, with a particular focus on a young comic book fan, Harold Everson.  And, that is "comic book", singular... the poor fella's only ever read the one.  Also included, plenty of chatter that is both off-topic and potentially relevant... well, one of those is true for sure! We also ask the tough questions that need answering...

  • Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 143 - Mary Worth: The Aldo Kelrast Saga (2006)

    22/09/2019 Duración: 01h22min

Greetings, comic strip enthusiasts! In this episode, Worthiteers Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) peer into the salacious world of Santa Royale when they read a run of Mary Worth comic strips from 2006  by Karen Moy and Joe Giella! After picking apart the history of Mary Worth, and detailing this strip's trappings, they read every daily strip from July 2 to October 17, 2006, in which a new person moves into the neighborhood–and Mary Worth's life! Then, our newsies talk about other times comic strips tackled subjects taken from the headlines of the day, and even reveal a current storyline in Funky Winkerbean, which has yet to be resolved (as of this recording!) It's a real nail-biter, you don't want to miss it! weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @cosmictmill chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 29: Lois Lane: When it Rains, God is Crying (1986)

    18/09/2019 Duración: 01h20min

It's "Tales from the Undergrad" when Chris (@acecomics) shares some stories regarding a couple of the cornerstones of his earlier studies... social media addiction and forensic psychology (with a focus on missing children), the latter of which parlays into a discussion about the sorta-kinda obscure Lois Lane mini-series from 1986... a pre-Crisis story in a post-Crisis world (or something)! It's a sobering and sad tale, wonderfully crafted by Mindy Newell and Gray Morrow... the comic that is.  The rest of the show is still a babbling idiot... and you can listen to him babble on about his love/hate relationship with the "media of social" for the better part of an hour! -- Original Discussions: Lois Lane #1 https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2016/02/lois-lane-1-1986.html Lois Lane #2 https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2016/02/lois-lane-2-1986.html -- Other Podcast(s) mentioned: Rob O'Hara: http://podcast.robohara.com/ -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @acecomics @reggieregg

  • Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 142 - DC Universe Rebirth #1 (2016)

    15/09/2019 Duración: 01h17min

Hello, patient listeners! In this episode, newborn babes Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) look at the most recent of DC Comics' many universe reboots when they read DC Universe: Rebirth #1 from 2016! After some biographical information about writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank, our inter-dimensional travelers look at what makes up a parallel universe, and then detail how DC acquired such a convoluted multiverse in the first place! After reading the issue, Reggie and Chris discuss what got them psyched about DC Universe Rebirth #1 and whether or not DC delivered on that enthusiasm. This episode is far less messy than an actual birth, you don't wanna miss it! weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com chrisisoninfinitearths.com BREAK: DC Rebirth promo spot that ran on its All Access channel

  • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 28: New Teen Titans Drug Awareness Special - The Second One (1983)

    11/09/2019 Duración: 01h10min

Heyyy Gang! In today's very special episode, Chris shares a very special issue sorta-kinda featuring the New Teen Titans.  Also, your host shares the story of a long-lingering addiction he once battled with... and no, we're not talking about comics!  That addiction he still can't kick! -- Original Discussion:  https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2016/04/new-teen-titans-drug-awareness-special_26.html -- Cosmic Treadmill Episodes Mentioned: Episode 35 - New Teen Titans Drug Awareness https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-yzbr7-69c6e1 Episode 107 - Supergirl Seat Belt PSA https://www.podbean.com/eu/pb-y2vm5-99baf5 -- weirdcomicshistory@gmail.com chrisandreggie.com @acecomics @reggiereggie @cosmictmill weirdsciencedccomics.com chrisisoninfiniteearths.com

Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) give the full details about why there hasn't been a new episode of Cosmic Treadmill in a while, and when we can expect a new episode! • Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 27: Adventures of Jerry Lewis #105 (1968)

    02/09/2019 Duración: 58min

It's Labor Day in America... and while a lotta folks might think of barbecues and getting the day off from work, your host's (@acecomics) mind goes immediately to the man who hosted the annual MDA Telethon every year, Jerry Lewis!  Year after year, the sight of Jerry Lewis' face would signify to many children that Summer vacation was over... and it was now time to go back to school.  We'll discuss a little bit of that here today. Also, we'll touch on the part of the comics hobby I (for whatever reason) always equate with Summer vacation: the trading cards!  I'll teach you all where in the box those sneaky distributors always put the holograms!* *If you don't get a hologram, that only means the retailer mixed up the packs.  The Cosmic Treadmill assumes no liability for misspent monies. -- Original Discussion: https://www.chrisisoninfiniteearths.com/2017/06/adventures-of-jerry-lewis-105-1968.html -- Cosmic Treadmill Episode mentioned: Episode 7: New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract https://www.podbean.co
